-Last Time-
Hinata gets into position to serve and stares at the ball, lost in thought. The whistle is blown which scares Hinata and causes him to jump and accidentally throw the ball up. Not being able to do anything else, he hits the ball. You gasp and cover your mouth when the ball hits Kageyama in the back of the head.
Everyone is shocked and poor Hinata is scared for his life.
The only sounds that can be heard are the whistle and the ball bouncing. You look at Hinata and he has a hand over his mouth and looks whiter than a ghost. You look at Kageyama just as he lifts his head. 'He looks pissed...' you think. Daichi frantically tries to calm him down.
"Captain." Kageyama begins. "I haven't said anything yet." he finishes with venom in his voice. This scares Daichi. Suga then gets ready in case he has to grab Kageyama. Suddenly Tanaka and Tsukishima start laughing and making jokes.
"Pft. Tanaka! Tsukishima!" You yell trying not to laugh.
"Not helping (Y/N)!!" Daichi yells at you. Kageyama slowly turns around and starts walking toward Hinata.
"Kageyama! You lay one finger on him and I'll punch you again!!" You warn.
'Again?' The opposing team thinks.
Hinata starts backing away from the setter while pleading for his life. He hits the wall and Kageyama stops a few feet away from him.
"...Hey." Kageyama says.
"Y-Yes, sir." Hinata responds with a face that looks like he has accepted death.
"Why are you scared? What's making you so nervous? Is it because they are big? Is it because it's your first game?" Kageyama asks eerily calmly while Hinata is sweating like he's in the desert. Kageyama starts hitting the back of his head repeatedly. "What could possibly be scarier than hitting me in the back of the head with a serve? Well?"
"Nothing."
"You just did the scariest thing so there's no reason to be nervous anymore! So get back out there and play normally!"
"...Wait...that screwup wasn't enough?!"
"What are you talking about?!" Kageyama asks. You notice Hinata look at the boy with pointed hair and glare at him. You stop when Tanaka yells Hinata's name. As the second-year stomps toward Hinata, the first-year kneels.
"Listen." Tanaka starts. "Stop thinking you have to play as well as everyone else even though you're a newb... Do you think we're stupid?! You suck! We know that! So what?!" 'Oh boy...' you think as Tanaka continues to lecture Hinata. Takeda asks you and Suga if we should help.
"No. I think it should be good now." Suga replies.
"Yeah. Let Tanaka have his "senpai" moment." You add.
"Everyone on this side of the net is your ally!" He shouts. "We'll cover for you, mess up or get in the way!" Hinata looks at Tanaka with admiration.
"Hey, Tanaka!" You yell to get his attention. He quickly turns around and starts to speak but you beat him to it. "What about us? Are we not allies?" You ask with fake sadness. He begins freaking out so much that he can't make actual words. Unable to hold it in anymore, you start laughing. Tanaka stops freaking out and everyone looks at you, including the other team.
"I'm sorry Tanaka, I just had to make sure Hinata knew that we're here for him too. Not just the players either. Takeda-sensei, Kiyoko, and I are here to help and encourage you, and everyone on the team." You say with a smile. 'We are lucky to have her.' Karasuno thinks. 'Damn you Karasuno!' Aoba Johsai thinks while glaring.
"Thanks (Y/N)." Hinata says.
"Don't mention it." You say happily before your mood shifts to a more serious one. "On a different note...Kageyama."The setter freezes as he remembers what you said earlier.
"I didn't touch him!" He responds with an attitude.
"..."
"..."
"Do you think it's a good idea to repeatedly hit your head after you received a serve with it?!" You scold.
"!!!" Kageyama's old teammates are shocked by the way you're scolding him. 'I wonder what she'd do to him...?' The spiky-haired boy thinks.
"You aren't hurt are you?!" You ask full of concern. He shakes his head with a small blush. "Good." You say after sighing. "Okay, I'm done." You continue while sitting back down on the bench. The teams get back into their positions and Hinata is standing next to "Onion Head".
"Hey, you should teach me that serve sometime!" He taunts.
"Me too! Me too!" Tsukishima adds.
"Hey, Hinata!" He looks at you. "Tell Onion Head that he doesn't have enough skill to learn it!" Said boy looks at you shocked while his teammates try to hide their laughter, which they fail. You smirk at him until you hear Tsukishima laugh. "Oi! Bean Pole! You don't have a right to laugh!" He looks at you as if daring you to continue. "You couldn't learn it either. You're too salty," you say with a huge smirk. Tanaka bursts out laughing while everyone holds their laughter in.
"At least I'm not a pipsqueak like you." He retorts. You glare at him until the game starts again.
Ennoshita serves the ball and Aoba Johsai receives it. They spike it but Tsukishima receives it. Kageyama and Hinata attempt to do their quick but it fails.
"Kageyama's going to get ticked if you can't hit those." Onion Head whispers to Hinata. 'What's he saying now?' you think suspiciously while watching the exchange carefully.
"Hinata!" Kageyama yells, which causes the ginger to flinch. "That was too high, sorry, my bad." You notice the shocked faces on a few of the opponents and smirk.
"That's right, he isn't the same." You say to yourself.
"What was that Miss (Y/N)?" Takeda says nicely.
"Oh! Uh, nothing. Just talking to myself." You explain shyly.
The duo retry their quick attack and succeed, catching the other team by surprise. The boys celebrate before refocusing on the game. It continues until Aoba Johsai calls a time-out when the score is 16-14 in Karasuno's favor. The boys make their way over to the bench, and you and Kiyoko hand out towels and water bottles.
"You guys are doing great. Keep it up!" You say while handing Tanaka his stuff. He thanks you and you continue to the next person. They start talking but your attention goes to the opposing bench. You notice the players are worried until their coach starts talking to them. 'Damn it!' you think frustratingly. 'He's figured it out and now he's telling his players. He's done his research...' You observe them a bit longer before turning to warn the team, but what you see disappoints you. Tsukishima is holding a water bottle to Hinata's forehead at arm's length.
"Tsukishima, stop it please." You say in an unusually serious tone. This causes the team to look at you weirdly.
"What's wrong (Y/N)?" Daichi asks.
"Their coach..." You begin while indicating behind you with your head.
"He's done his research on Kageyama." They look at said coach before focusing back on you when you speak again. "He knows his skills and he just told his team how Kageyama pinpoints the ball straight to Hinata's palm" They look shocked. 'How...' "They also know Hinata's eyes stay closed the whole time. I don't know if they'll switch up their play style or not, but watch out." You finally notice their shocked expressions. "W-What?"
"How did you know that?" Takeda asks.
"Well, let's just say, I have a sixth sense for things like this." You vaguely explain. Before anyone can ask anything else, the whistle is blown, indicating the end of the time-out. When they get on the court Tsukishima and Kageyama are next to each other. 'Oh boy...' After blocking a spike they begin bickering. Daichi has to yell at them to get them to quit. The set ends with Karasuno winning.
The boys come to the bench, you and Kiyoko hand out their stuff but you're distracted by watching the other team talk. Hinata and Tanaka start cheering about victory. You smile at them before looking at Kageyama. Your smile drops when you realize he's noticed the same thing as you.
"Don't get ahead of yourselves." Kageyama says. They look at him questioningly. He looks at you again. You get the message that he wants you to say it.
"That's not their starting setter." You say just before the whistle, indicating the start of set three, is blown. Suddenly you all hear a new voice.
"Did you guys let them win a set?~"
