Apologies for breaking unwanted words. Messia, what would you have me do?
Y'all... fuck Hilara (stupid bitch on the right played brilliantly by Jamaica Vaughn).
*spoilers ahead*
Now... I was happy to ignore her at first; I figured she was just putting on an act to please her Dominus and survive the hell of slavery.
But very quickly, I realized this is really her. Not only is this dummy bitch clearly in love with Ashur, she's delulu enough to think he loves her too. And at first, the audience is kinda led to believe he does... until we see him have a love-at-first sight moment with a highborn Roman widow.
Messia and Hilara 1x3/1x8
Honestly felt bad for Messia
You're in a being cute contest but your opponent is Hilara watching Achillia fight
extremely random but it just occurred to me that Crassus’ gladiator slave he trained with at the beginning of War of the Damned—
—was named Hilarus. what are the odds that there is some connection with Hilara in House of Ashur? it’s probably a common enough name for the time period, but still interesting that they’d pick a name so similar to one they’d used before! especially since Crassus himself looms over House of Ashur so far, even in his absence. and we don’t know anything about Hilara’s backstory…
(i’m also reminded of the sibling pair in Vengeance, Seppius and Seppia.)
could be nothing! but… 👀
It's maybe nothing and I just like Messia too much, not sorry about it either. But this image I love because she's looking down on Hilara, rightfully because if anyone confessed feelings to someone who then treats them like trash, then also says they don't mean to be unkind. They have a reason to start hating them. She needs to get back at her in some way.
Hilara is at Ashur's feet, delusional and devoted since ahem, clearly believing she means more than she really does.
Now like I said, it's maybe nothing. Messia and Hilara are Ashur's slaves after all, but Messia is behind him, I feel like she's looking down on both of them. She's not the one at his feet, not at all kneeling in front of him, etc. You get the idea.
If she doesn't get to do something petty or even villainous, may write a drabble myself.
After Ivana's character Eretria plus a few others, Messia needs to do something petty, spiteful, scandalous, or just because she can. Maybe all in one? Just saying.....
