Fun fact:

The husband of my biology teacher accidentally beat a dog to death when he was a teenager, simply by hitting it on the nose to stop it from biting his leg and thus damaging it's hindbrain so the dog just dropped dead on spot, so like be careful hiting people and animals on the head, because it can really easily kill them.

Medulla Oblongata is in the mylencephalon, part of the autonomic nervous system.

In the pons and medulla, there is an area postrema, where a chemoreceptors trigger zone exists to induce vomiting.

Also, 5-HT cells line the midbrain and hindbrain, projecting to other rostral and caudal systems.
