Las Hirsutas: la reconciliación con el vello corporal

Entrevistamos a la fotógrafa María Barba, autora de Las Hirsutas, proyecto personal cuyo objetivo ha sido hacer visible el vello y el proceso de la depilación.

Entrevista para itfashion.com realizada por Alba Correa, en la que hablo de mi proyecto fotográfico Hirsutas.

HIRSUTAS es el resultado final de un proyecto de Investigación a través de las Artes Visuales realizado por la fotógrafa María Barba, utilizando la fotografía como herramienta para la creación de nuevas imágenes en torno al vello corporal y la depilación femenina. Con esta investigación se pretende aumentar el debate actual sobre la construcción de género en base al vello corporal, indagar en las prácticas depilatorias a través de la fotografía, crear redes de difusión de esta información y proponer acciones pedagógicas en torno al vídeo y la fotografía que ayuden a aumentar este imaginario visual.

HIRSUTAS is the final result of a research project through visual arts by the photographer María Barba, using photography as a tool to create new images concerning body hair and female depilation. This research intends increase current debates about gender construction based on body hair, investigating depilation practices through photography, creating networks to ease the access to this information and proposing educational practices concerning video and photography to help to enhance this visual imagery.

Hi there hirsutas! Gender Stubble has arrived to Spain! Today I got this great zine in my mail, straight from Philadelphia! Its a work about shaving, gender and razors made by the artist Liz Barr.Thank you so much Liz!
