Country passed world's first gender self-ID law in 2012 Some feminists say such rules put women ...
Other women's groups - and the government - say fears of an uptick in gender-related violence have not transpired.
"We haven't had situations of violence from our travesti and trans sisters," said Candelaria Botto of Ecofeminita, one of the country's most prominent feminist groups. Other feminist groups FEIM, ELA and Colectiva La Revuelta agreed.
Greta Pena, a senior policy officer at Argentina's equality ministry, said there was no evidence of any rise in violence against non-trans women since the law was passed.
A 2021 government study found that one trans woman was accused and convicted of sexual abuse between 2013 and 2019.
"No one has all the information, but violence (by trans people) ... isn't a problem that data shows," said Carla Majdalani, head of the UN Women's programme against gender-based violence in Argentina.

It's a sad as fuck day when I see Latines making a fucking ass shitshow out of a kiss of two seconds in a Disney movie that they will surely edit out when exporting it and I find out Ben Shapiro did the exact same thing. Like actually almost word for word the same thing. Congratulations, you fucks. You turned out exactly just as bad as the "pronouns are biological" with the Kermit voice guy. You couldn't even be bigoted on a new way so just ended up copying the fucking gringos again. Not just wrong but unoriginal. Shame para tus padres, tu vaca y tu casa.
Bilingual hispanics on anything: *use only one or two spanish words on an otherwise perfectly easy to understand english sentence* Me: *write an entire parragraph on spanish to my gringo friends before realizing that wasn’t it and then go to say lol in english to my hispanic ones, forget words in one language and replace with the other equivalent, sometimes forgetting from either and making wild gestures trying to remember what the fuck was the word.*
Me seeing non hispanic people creating interesting and not stereotyped hispanic characters: Oh nice, I like those! Me when I realize their spanish sucks: Oh... well... there was an attempt at least...
There should be a name for when english speaking people take a spanish word and just randomly put it on their vernacular, creating even their own version of such words that have nothing to do with the original one. In Latin America (not aware if they use it on Spain or not) we have spanglish to call when a hispanic speaking person throws english words just because. Instead of saying “oh dios mío” my nanny used to say “oh my god”, for example. And then you have the opposite happening, like when americans say things like “no problemo” (which doesn’t mean anything on spanish, the correct way would be “no hay problema”) or wanna say “papacito”, but there is no actual words for when that happens? Idk, I just think that is weird.
Me, to my native language: You can't gender me on a way that matters.
