Beauty from the past: how intense is that? This vibrant painting by Carlos Schwabe (1866-1926) "Spleen and Ideal" is one of the illustrations of Charles Baudelaire's iconic book of poetry "Les Fleurs du Mal". . . . posted on Instagram - https://ift.tt/3a4KoEG
New research indicates that stained glass windows from Canterbury Cathedral may be among the oldest in the world.
This is cool.
“Dr Ware Adlington's study suggests that some of the Canterbury Ancestors may date back to the back to the period between 1130-1160, at least 10 years before Thomas Becket's infamous killing at the site in 1170.“

🦌 There's a moose loose! 🦌
...within the papillomatous interior of a fluid-filled cyst in the ovary.
i♡histo
The image shows the magnified interior of a serous cystadenoma - a type of benign ovarian epithelial tumor. They are fairly common (accounting for ~60% of ovarian cysts) particularly in people with ovaries who are over the age of 40.
It is actually a close up of the inside of a cyst. The white space around the moose head is where the fluid in the cyst would have been and the moose head itself is lined by epithelial cells that are thought to be derived from clusters of cells that are linked embryologically to the uterine/Fallopian tubes.
The 'lumpy' appearance of this moose is caused because the inner surface of the cyst was thrown into branching folds as it grew forming a 'papilloma'. The word papilloma simply describes the shape of this structure (papilla is the Latin word for 'nipple'). So it is simply a nipple-like protrusion of epithelium within the cyst itself.
