#quote #bible #bibleverse #oldtestament #historicalnarrative #2chronicles #temple #westernwall The first temple was built by the Jewish King #solomon during his reign in Israel 970-930 B.C. The land was purchased by his father King David whose palace, the City of David, is adjacent to the Temple Mount. The structure we see today was built on top of Solomon's temple (and the second-temple of Nehemiah and Ezra) by Herod the Great around the 1st century A.D. Of course, if excavations of the Temple Mount were allowed, there would all kinds of #archaeological evidence of Jewish ownership. Over the years, those who deny the historicity of the temple have attempted to clear things out with a bulldozer, etc., but have been stopped by the national Antiquities Society. Also, while walking the Temple Mount, you can see doors filled with concrete slab, chains, locks, and fences, all signaling the fear of truth being revealed. The western wall is warm and inviting and filled with the prayers of Jews and Christians from all over the world. The eastern side is eerily stale and unwelcoming, compounded by pagan sounds blasted throughout the city. Sad. The Temple Mount is a holy and sentimental place. It is easy to become indignant over the situation. So I have to remember the words of #jesus to the Samaritan woman at the well: Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain [Mount #gerizim, the mount of #blessing in Joshua opposite Mount Ebal, the mount of cursing] nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." - #John 4:21-24 When Jesus returns, all things will be made new. #sarahwatching
