Some Design-Infos about them below the cut:

Kris is a Vessel since they're also the Players Vessel in DR. The Fungals also reference the fact that they're controlled by something else. They base on the Fungified Husk in HK as well as the Cordyceps irl. Their Horns base on the Devil-Horns Kris wore as a Kid in DR.

Susie is an Elder Baldur since this Bug fit the best in terms of Body-Structur and Lore. She's quite bulky in DR with the highest HP-Stat. She's also seen as a Beast in the eyes of other Monsters.

Despite the menacing look of the Elder Baldur, the Snail Shaman in Ancestral Mound said, that it was actually quite docile until the Infection hit. If you dreamnail an Elder Baldur, one of it's Dialogue is: "...Protect...".

Susies whole Mean-Girl-Asthetic comes from the fact, that she tries to hide and protect the sensible Part of herself. Which I think is shown pretty well with the thick Shell of the Elder Baldur.

Ralsei is a Snail aka a Snail-Shaman. He's still a very mysterious Character in DR and very good at using Magic. There's not a lot more to say about the choice tbh xD

Noelle is a Moth. At first I was thinking about a Bee since it's also fluffy but a Moth fit even better. Noelles Nickname is "Angel" in DR and the Moth-Tribe was worshipping the Radiance - a God - which also had a connection to Light. Since Kris and Noelle have a special connection in DR, I like the connection of a Vessel and a Moth - Void and Light - in their HK-Counterparts.

Also her Mother tries to preserve things and prefers for stuff to stay as they were. Similar of how the Radiance tries not to be forgotten by force.

The Thorn-Necklace is a reference to the Thornring and her Blue Eyes not only show her HK-Connection to Lifeblood but also her connection to Ice-Magic in DR.

Berdly is a Mantis Petra. There was also the decition between a Bee and a Mantis but decided for the latter, since I think that fits more asthetic-vise.
