I know nobody asked but imma give out some Hollow Knight headcanons!
- Gods have their mortal selves and their true selves, they don’t often show their true self, as it could blind mortals or drive them mad to witness such raw power. The true self also has a few personality differences from the mortal self.
- Pk is unnaturally cold, so much so that unless water is hot enough to cook a bug alive, it will freeze to his shell.
- Pk talks in whispers, as being a the god of mind/soul gives him a powerful voice that can influence mortal bugs.
- Radi is a poodle moth
- Pk and the Nightmare King were buddies at some point in time! Grimm only really knows PK from what NKG has told him.
- Wyrm’s are born intersex, and don’t really have a concept of gender or sexuality.
- Hornet inherited a small bit of PK’s foresight, it comes in the form of strong feelings about places or people
- Speaking of foresight, Pk’s foresight, while it can be used on command, can also be triggered by touch. Making it so that he can see a specific person’s future if he is touching them while using his future sight.
- Gods can change the temperature of a room to match their moods
- Gods have magic themed around elements that represent them, but are capable of other magics (Grimm is a fire mage, PK is a frostmancer, Radi had light magic, Root can do plant magic, etc)
- The vessels have a form of telepathy between each other, but have to use sign language to speak to anyone who doesn’t have a connection to the void.
- each god has their own realm, the realm contains their memories, but mostly take the form of environments that best fit them, and deteriorate or change depending on their physical health or state of mind
- Pk doesn’t like his more brutal instinct, but does trust it (it’s never steered him wrong in fights or hunts)
- God are more physically frail the more powerful they are. Extremely powerful gods will have very defensive fighting styles, with lots of ranged attacks.
- Bugs have always had minds, as instinct is a part of the mind, when PK got to Hallownest he didn’t give them a mind/intelligence, just greatly enhanced what was already there.
- Pk had ADHD, hence the meticulously clean palace versus the messy workshop (he has a system, okay?)
- Pk is a socially awkward recluse, many people find him intimidating due to the fact he doesn’t talk very much, and when he does it’s in cold, echoey, whispers. Truth is he has no clue how to socialize
-Root forces PK to socialize with the dreamers and the five knights (He and Ogrim became good friends due to this)
-speaking of the dreamers, Lurien admires the king, but more like how a kid would admire their older sibling, rather than some one sided crush.
- He and Herrah have a “you don’t bother me, and I won’t bother you” relationship. It’s not hostile, but it’s not peaceful ether, (pk is not great at first impressions) (and Herrah does not give second changes)
- PK did his best to be a good father to Hornet, but was clueless about children, though they are easier to interact with than adults (children are so genuine and easy to read, adults have so many social rules)
- Root did most of the talking when she and pk were in public
-Pk and Monomon get along well, they’re friends, but they aren’t particularly close (mostly because they both get so absorbed in their work they never leave their studies)
-The great knights are loyal to a fault, but do have some gripes with the royals
- Hegimol thinks PK needs to be more aggressive and assertive
- Dyraa has a one sided crush on the Queen, both royals know, Root thinks it’s cute, PK doesn’t care because in the end Root chose to marry him
- Isma believes that a little patience and kindness is all the push the king needs to get out of his shell, and admires the queen for her kind heart. She is also vegetarian
-Wyrm’s cannot eat vegetables, they will make the Wyrm sick, (PK forced himself to eat Isma’s cooking anyways because she worked hard on it)
- Le’ Meer (did I spell that right?) has no opinion on the queen, just didn’t interact with her often, did think that Dryaa’s obvious flirting was unprofessional, and Hegemol needed to stop being so forcefully in his attempt to spar PK, also had little to no opinions on PK. The royals were just Le’ Meer’s employers. (I do not know Le’Meer’s pronouns)
-Pk did not commission the statue of him, or the idols, but though it was a nice gesture
-Wyrm’s are born blind, pk is no exception, he just uses his other senses to navigate, and memorized each persons footsteps, speech patterns, and tells them apart based on their voices. (It get hard with people he’s not around often)
-Monomon is a jellyfish, and cannot leave her little tube/tank (?)
-Hornet was named after Herrah’s first kill

Sooo, if you haven’t guessed, PK is one of my comfort characters (for some strange reason) so have some pk Headcanons
-his vision is shit, mainly due to an eye injury he got during the fight with Xero. Took a dagger-sized mail to the eye, cut through the pupil and iris, (eyes don’t really bleed unless you pierce the back of the socket). So his eye is forever unfocused, though it was bad before. Wyrm’s are burrowing creatures after all!
- Wyrm’s are usually nocturnal, while most bugs in Hallownest well, aren’t. He’s got bad jet lag, and insomnia, which don’t mix well. He probably wouldn’t be awake if he didn’t have at least 6 cups of coffee in a 4 hour period (do not do this irl)
- He was a runt, however, he was one of the only two eggs in his clutch to hatch, his sibling died after a few weeks. His growth was stunted from malnutrition, but managed to defy odds and become rather powerful.
- ADHD.
- he gets overstimulated/overwhelmed easily in social situations, he doesn’t know how to talk to people very well
- light sensitivity
- He picks at his skin (chitin?) (determotilamania)
- Congenital insensitivity to pain, he’s aware of it, and does check himself for wounds he can’t feel, and makes sure to get second opinions on things (like running baths)

- his foresight can present in a multitude of ways, if he concentrates on it, he can have full visions, but in his day to day life it presents much like Charles Bonnet Syndrome. He’ll see phantom images if possible futures blending into a single reality.
- he tried to be a good father, though he felt himself undeserving of the title,
-horribly depressed
-he loves with his whole heart, and adores his family (not his parents, he barely remembers their faces)
-He and Root started having relationship problems as the infection got worse, they were both stressed and spread thin. It eventually started to become unhealthy for them both, it hurt, but they agreed some time apart would be best for them both.
- He won’t admit it, but he and radiance were friends at one point, but well, betrayal breeds revenge, and sometimes, creating an entire dance of people causes people to start comparing your friends to you, using you to “motivate” them
- he could barely live with himself after the vessel plan was enacted, and regret and eventually void consumed him
- he wants nothing more than to make up for everything, even if he’s bitter about what happened

He’s in this strange state of being mostly dead but not quite (Thank you Void)
Void had coated the inside of his corpse, making it impossible for his spirit to leave and for him to truly die. This also caused his memory and personality to deteriorate. When Ghost finds him in a dream version of the white palace, he’s mostly gone.
He has almost no memory of Hallownest or anything really. But there are still bits and pieces left
He doesn’t really talk, and if he does speak it’s very strained and only small words.
He limps because his body is pretty much recked, he has no feeling in his body.
He still has his half of the king soul, and won’t seem to give it up, despite not knowing what it is.
Ghost
Ghost is very frustrated with the situation, First they have to deal with radiance, and now a memory wiped corpse? No thank you.
They begrudgingly keep PK around, the old Wyrm can still use soul, which is useful. And they need that kingsoul half.
Mute
They wake up every day and choose violence
They look like PK and they hate it
Hornet
She had a good relationship with her father way back when, but ever since Herrah started ti dream, it’s been tense.
She doesn’t like that ghost is dragging around PK’s corpse
She mostly avoids going into Hallownest, preferring to protect what’s left of her mother’s land.
She only shows up in the story when Ghost goes to kill Herrah, they end up in a battle, that Ghost wins.
She grows to resent Ghost’s actions, despite knowing it had to happen
She has tried to convince ghost to let her watch over their father, they refused.
Hollow
Hollow is in the temple for most the story
They kinda have to permanently deal with Radiance now, she has somehow managed to fuse herself into their mind.
Very depressed
White Lady
She just hates this Situation
Her relationship with Hornet is…..not good
She’s blind
She’s also a little more prickly than in cannon
Wants her children to flee Hallownest with her and just do fuck all for the rest of time
Both resents and desperately wants to be with PK again
Story
Sooooo, this is gonna be a king explanation!
Basically, when Ghost comes to Hallownest to end the infection, they go through the motions and go to the white palace before the dreamers, where they find the Pale King. At first they feel a lot of anger, and go to attack him. As they raise their nail they realize something is off, maybe it was the torn clothes, the fact his hair had turn to soul, floating away from his head like it was trying to escape, the fact that his horns had rotten into black branches, the leaves somehow stuck in his hair…
Maybe it was the void that was everywhere, covering the king’s hands, infecting every wound on his body, staining his skin and leaking out of his eyes and mouth. Yeah no, none of that is normal. They learned that the void had entered PK’s body. Keeping his soul trapped inside as void slowly ate away at his mind, and stopping the body from dying completely.
Pk still had memories of how to use soul, how to shape the dream of the white palace to something safer, how cast spells. And he had his half of the Kingsoul. The white lady would only giver her half if they could get the kings half. They found they couldn’t take it. Both because he wouldn’t let them, and because a mix of void and soul had fused it to his chest. Uh oh, spwagetti o’!
That’s the start.
Now they travel Hallownest, dragging the Pale king along, trying to find a way to get the kingsoul half, and trying to stop the infection
They just babysit PK the whole AU.
