I think an important consideration when writing character interaction is content vs. process... content as in what the characters are saying, process in terms of how they’re saying it... what they’re consciously/subconsciously expressing... patterns of behavior... relational schemas... themes... implications...

LEAVE ME ALONE.#oh but there was one romance novel I once read that was like#okay#you know how some people are like 'if ONLY romance novel characters would TALK about their FEELINGS like REASONABLE ADULTS'#this is a book for those people#which meant#it was excruciatingly boring for me#everyone just... said what they meant...#I need to read about people lying to themselves and everyone else about their feelings#usually without realizing it#there needs to be a balance... of honesty and dishonesty...#character development and character consistency.......#hm.......................................................................................
