How was your first experience with The locked tomb? Like how did you get so interested in those books?
finding the books was like finding something that felt like it was written specifically for me. this series is an amalgamation of everything i love:
- butch lesbians, a group that is woefully underrepresented in literature & also so so so deserving of being written about
- transcendental love. love so strong that it refuses to let death come between those who love each other.
-some of the most multi-faceted characters i’ve ever come across in fiction. the books can barely contain them
- copious allusions to ancient greek and roman texts and mythology (my minor in university)
- dozens of english literature allusions (my other minor in university). i love how diverse they are. the author quotes classics like edgar allan poe, hans christian anderson, oscar wilde, and andrew marvell. but at the same time there are sly little references to modern literature like twilight, the secret history, and a wrinkle in time
-bad memes.
