I will say this the scene where Tauriel has the most resonance is the last one she appears in. Her conversation with King Thranduil was the scene where she actually had some pathos and made you feel something for her. And that is due chiefly to the fact that it's playing off Thranduil's backstory (seeing as Tauriel has none because bad writing) and because you know he's lost the love of his life his acknowledgement of her love for Kili being real is more evidence than anything she's shown us hitherto that moment. Plus in this scene the writers are playing on a frequent Tolkienian theme of life and love being worthwhile even if you have to suffer or lose that which you loved. So it makes you feel because it's got a deep theme it's not just wistful stares and stabbing people trying to get to the person you care about which was all the Kili-Tauriel romance had been up to that point (that and one conversation about a rock)
