I am horrified at the amount of half-finished quilts I found in the back of my closet. I am such a liar when I say I am bored and have nothing to work on.

romanticizing my life every day in August
August 16th, 2025 (one day late because i fell asleep happy and exhausted)
Today Bug and I put down our deposit on our new place(!!!), my friend and I went thrifting at this gorgeous vintage shop, and I picked up a colonial-style antique bedframe and two luggage trunks from the 1910s! I also found two short candlesticks for my glass collection, which I'm super stoked about. The ladies at the shop told me about this gorgeous Art Deco piece they'll be getting in soon, and I'm very strongly considering getting it (but we'll have to see how much they list it for). If anything, I'll still definitely be going back for the Victorian Era wall sconces.
Side note, but I'm so excited to start learning how to restore old furniture! I love antiques and vintage pieces, and a friend of mine is going to help me repair these old clasps and leather straps on the sides of the trunks. There's actually two, but one is smaller and still inside the other trunk lol. But yeah new hobby :)
I also got to catch up with a friend of mine who lives very far away. We've known each other since we were literal babies and we get brunch every time he's in town. It's so so lovely to talk about what's going on in our lives, our jobs, weird shit in the news, etc. Also getting to chat with my big sister was super nice. I was on the phone with people today for about 3 and a half hours! Sharing recipes and gossiping about local politics is such a weird delight.
I've also been outside a lot more, but less so for work and more so for pleasure. Don't get me wrong, I'm still walking and training dogs a lot, but in the evenings it's been nice to take a walk for myself and listen to the cicadas and crickets sing.
Spent a LOT of time with a lot of animals today, and I honestly couldn't be happier. It's an incredible job and I'm excited to expand upon my skills. Getting better at training is so rewarding (and it definitely doesn't hurt to pad any future nanny résumés!)
I'm excited to move into this next chapter. Bug and I were talking about how many changes have happened in our lives, but how they're good changes. So I just want to put it in writing: I'm grateful for all the stages of my life and of his life that brought us together and that have moved us along this path with each other. Sorry to be sappy on here and stuff, I just really love my partner and I'm really proud of them for how hard he's worked, in every aspect of their life.
Today’s video is live!! Did you know I had to install a new shelf in my bathroom and buy storage boxes for under my bed because my linen closet is completely full of hobby materials 👍
New video out on Tuesday...
