So knitting is sort of a hobby of mine. It's one I've had for a while and tried to get my mother into because;
it's good for the brain
gives you an outlet for feelings and energy if you're not able to physically do stuff
and you also get to make a thing!
She tried but didn't last very long even with a loom to make it less intensive for her. She did manage to knit a single square for a blanket before her interest faded from a low ebb to nothing.
Fast-forward a year or two to now and my middle brother is having a baby. His partner is, actually. A little girl, due in less than 3 weeks and I can't wait!! 😁 [grin emoji]
Neither can my mother.
In preparation for my new niece, I've been knitting a baby blanket in a nice chunky wool that looks pretty good imho. I even have a seed stitch border which I'd never done before and it's not a disaster 😅 [laughing emoji with a sweat drop]
I've also gone hunting for patterns for booties, mittens, cardigans, etc. And, because I wanted to share my joy and delight over making these things for my niece, I recklesslyshowed them to my mother.
Who is now going Feral over them.
She's demanded needles, wool, and patterns like she's going to perish if she doesn't get them and I now get to share my hobby, my surprise interest, with my mother who is really motivated to knit adorable rainbow baby booties for her granddaughter to be!
And I'm very happy about this.
Sharing what we enjoy, what we love, with others whom we care for, is a wonderful experience that I cannot overstate the joy it brings.
If you have a special interest, a hobby, something you do that brings you joy... share it with someone who you think might be interested.
It's a wonderful thing to do when someone else joins you in your joy, especially when you get to create something together.
Gods help my knitting supplies though, my wool is going to disappear into blankets and booties like there's no tomorrow 😂 [crying laughing emoji]
