19 years ago next month I went to New York City for the first time for my 18th birthday. On that trip, aside from general touristing and baseball games, the big things were getting to see The Daily Show and The Colbert Report taped live. And meeting my internet friends from the message boards in real life. My parents were so welcoming of these internet strangers who had travelled from all over the US to attend these tapings so we could all meet and honestly I am so blessed to have known these people for 20 years now. They are still friends, even though we are spread across so many miles. And we have our Hobocamp forever memories!
Stephen Colbert, and Jon Stewart, are why I know these people. Why I travelled to New York. Why I spent a summer there a few years later. I have so much to be thankful for because of some satire shows from 20 years ago.
I did fall off watching Colbert and The Daily Show in later years as life happened and other things came and gone. But I have always had my friends. And these memories.
