named after the witch from "Fountain of Fair Fortune" - the one that married Sir Luckless (10 year old Ominis was practicing silent rebellion)

a crup, owned by Ominis as well

formerly Noctua's dog, Ominis adopted him after her disappearance

lives in Feldcroft during the school year

Loves cuddles & belly rubs

emotional support dog if you ever need one. He knows exactly when you're feeling bad, comes over and lays his head on your lap. Won't move until you're feeling better.

Balbulus

Lyra's owl, "an EAGLE OWL?!" (her exact words upon seeing him the first time)

a gift for her 16th birthday by Sebastian. She told him he was crazy. Then Balbulus gently climbed up her arm and started nibbing her hair. She fell in love with him

thankfully, a quiet character that doesn't need much attention. But he really enjoys petting sessions

super cuddly, will beg anyone she comes across for a petting

can often be found on the astronomy tower, watching Amit watch the stars. He rambles to her about everything he knows. She meows sometimes, like she agrees with him.

like Archie for Sebastian, Sappho was the last gift Anne received from their parents for her 10th birthday

loves wandering around and is rarely found at home, but when she is, she's on Anne's lap.

She also always brings her "gifts", like dead mouses

but don't Imelda dare to not have time for him because she's doing homework or something like that. He will demand her full attention by spreading out over the parchment and meowing loudly

What pets would the marauders have had while at Hogwarts?

Honestly, I just see them all with owls. It's the more traditional choice, and somehow I can't see any of them with cats. And given Peter's future Animagus form, that's probably for the best xD

They do, however, have different species of owl.

Sirius has an eagle owl. The Blacks make something of a tradition of gifting 12-year-olds with an owl for their birthday, since it's their first year at Hogwarts and they need a messenger to communicate messages from home (or in Sirius's case, warnings lol). It arrived at the window of his dormitory on the morning of his birthday, with enormous orange eyes and a very haughty expression. He never specified that he wanted an eagle owl, but then he was never asked. It was just a given that his parents would send him a suitably grand and expensive specimen. His father has one of the same species.

James had a Blakiston's fish owl. He definitely got lucky the day he went into Eeylope's Owl Emporium in search of his own owl and spotted this one perched high up in a corner. A rarer breed, and not one Eeylope manages to get hold of too often. He was suitably-priced, but this was hardly a concern for the Potters. James certainly was proud to have an unusual owl to show off when he got to school. His owl could often be seen flying over the Black Lake, diving for fish and being a nuisance for the poor squid.

Remus had a barn owl. There was no money for extravagant or fancy breeds for him, and he's not a very showy person anyway. He had no interest in owning a grand specimen with which he could join in James and Sirius's petty debates as to which of them has the best owl. His barn owl is sweet enough, she delivers his mail and stays long enough for a stroke and a treat before flying off to mind her own business. She suits him just fine.

Peter had a screech owl. It was an owl he brought with him from home, and was getting older by the time he started Hogwarts. He was rather attached to him, for nostalgia's sake, but he had to admit that the fact that the grumpy bird would protest if asked to carry heavy mail or was bothered for work too often. His ear-splitting screech was the subject of many jokes from his friends, which he begrudgingly bore, stifling his annoyance with his owl and annoyance with himself for feeling slightly embarrassed by his childhood pet.

Do you think Lily Evans had a Cat or an Owl at Hogwarts? Because part of me would think she would get an owl so she could talk to her family. But another part of me thinks she would get a cat because A) she seems like a cat person and B) there’s that part I’m deathly hallows in her letter to Sirius she says Harry almost killed the Cat.

BUT on the other hand I can see James getting a cat after they find out their animungus forms just so he could annoy Sirius.

But yeah let me know was Lily a cat or an owl person?

Pets at Hogwarts appear to be a free for all

Or in other words, wherein J.k. uses them when convenient.

Even though the Hogwarts letter clearly states only three animals are allowed, other animals appear to commonly end up in the castle, including Ron's rat and Lee's spider.

Where those animals go and live is a real big question. Owls have a specific place but what about the cats and toads? Hermione implies Crookshanks will live in her dormitory. But in the 3rd book, Neville straight up has Trever the toad in Potions (which just seems like a terrible idea for a toad known for disappearing. I agree with the general fanfic headcanon that Trever is a magical toad that goes invisible at random). Is it common to take pets to class? Pets appear to have a little bit of a familar style relationship for wizards, as it appears very common for smaller pets like rats and toads to really go nearly everywhere with their owners. So is there always a couple animals in any room? If students regularly go outside the three animalsallotted, what other weird pets are wandering around classrooms?

How about the sheer number of possible animals? If there's around 70 students sharing a dormitory,... well Hagrid said toads are unpopular and he only said cats made him sneeze. So does that mean there's just a dozen or so cats wandering around the dormitory at any given time? I can't believe that only 1 in 70 students would own a cat. Even taking into account owls would be more common sense they were useful for other reasons... let's say around 10 students maybe at least have their own owl, probably mainly the ones that are muggle born and dont have family owls. That's still only 1 in 60 that have a cat. I'm just saying. I'm pretty sure every dormitory looks like a crazy cat lady house with floofers snoozing all over the place.
