WE’RE BACK \o/ #SherloNaNo2017 comin’ atcha!
SherloNaNo is a network of Sherlockian friends and friends of Sherlockians gathering to help each other survive #NaNoWriMo.
The idea behind SherloNaNo is very simple: To help each other through a gruelling month of epistolary madness. We run and moderate scheduled ‘honeypots’ (virtual write-ins) in our chat channel. Outside these scheduled times, the chat remains open to all, so drop by for word wars, to talk plot and characters, or blow off some NaNo steam.
National Novel Writing Month is a month-long challenge that runs from the 1st to 30th of November every year. The goal is simple: Write 50,000 words. Or, alternatively, some other amount of words that you set as your own goal. It’s hard, and it takes work, but it’s doable, and it’s fun.
But I don’t want to write about Sherlock for NaNoWriMo.
That’s totally fine! You can still join, no matter what your novel is about. We don’t believe in rules around here. You don’t even need to be writing just one novel. As long as you’ve committed to writing something during the month of November, you’re welcome.
Sooner than you might expect! Writing a novel in a month can take a surprising amount of prep work. But don’t worry – you’re not alone! Throughout October, SherloNaNo will organise prep sessions and share useful resources that can help you get your novel ready to be written. NaNoWriMo itself kicks off at 00:00 on November 1, wherever you are in the world. Watch this space for an official calendar of #SherloNaNo2017 events, coming soon.
Easy! Follow SherloNaNo on tumblr or @SherloNaNo on Twitter.
This sounds awesome! I want to help!
Brilliant!! We always need people to Mod chat channels, run honeypots, etc. If you have a great idea for a prep event, a write-in challenge, or anything else, drop us a line or email [email protected] and we’ll be happy to talk about your ideas. And any reblogs of this post would be extra helpful as well!
