Goldenflower taking Bramblepaw into the forest before his first gathering and twining flowers into his pelt. “I used to do this to your father, when we were apprentices,” she mews,” My mother would always tell us it’s ‘family tradition’. I hated it so much, you wouldn’t believe! But your father, well he-”. She chokes up, tears welling in her eyes. She’s twining a beautiful orange flower into his fur, her paws determined despite their shakiness. “He loved it. He used to insist we did it every gathering. And we did. Every gathering, every assessment, our warrior ceremonies. He even got all pretty before he met you and Tawnypaw in the nursery for the first time”. She’s crying now, her voice filled with love for her son. “Your first gathering. I can’t believe it. It feels like only yesterday you were asking Tigerclaw for badger rides around camp”. She lowers her paws and sniffs him over, correcting any loose petals. “Oh where did that beautiful cat go?”.

“And from this day forward, you will be known as Brambleflower. Starcaln honors your bravery, and they welcome you as a full member of Thunderclan”. Goldenflower leaps to her paws, yowling out her sons new name, tears welling in her eyes as he stands so proud. He looks so much like his father! Goldenflower observes. Brambleflower scrambles over to her, dislodging some of the well twined flowers. She was to over-joyed to care, nuzzling the side of his face with her muzzle. “I’m so proud of you!”.

Brambleflower makes it tradition once again to twine flowers into his kins’ pelts. Jaypaw, Holypaw, and Lionpaw royally love it. Holypaw always gathers the most crimson colored flowers she can find. Lionpaw helps Jaypaw pick out some beautiful blue petals, along with his precious bluebird feather. Lionpaw always seems to find the exact same flowers Goldenflower would put in his pelt. Brambleflower always tears up at the sight of his kits, flowers twined in their well-groomed pelts. “I don’t think i’ll ever see you this happy again!”, Squirrelflight mewed.

“Squirrelstar! Squirrelstar!”, Brambleflower yowled. His mate, his mate, the clan leader! The fire-like flowers twined in her pelt so beautifully he felt tears break through his eyes. She was so comfortable up there, leading Thunderclan. He was made deputy, and he almost felt unworthy. Squirrelstar insisted on having flowers twined into his pelt aswell, though he stated that it’d be to obvious. “Nonsense”, she had purred,” You deserve to look pretty!”.

“Alderpaw! Sparkpaw!” Brambleflower yowled his kits names, tears streaming from his eyes. The flowers in their pelts were being rubbed off by he and Squirrelstars’ ceaseless nuzzles, but he could care less.

This is what Goldenflower meant. This is where that beautiful cat went.
