I grew up in Colorado- a state where you could see snow as early as September and as late as June. I love living in Washington now, but sometimes I miss snowy days. I don’t really miss the dirty grey mounds on the side of every road, the black ice, or the sleet that either needs to give up or go all in. What I miss is that exquisite quiet that comes with a heavy white blanket; the peaceful mesmerizing hourglass of falling flakes; the magic of hot chocolate that makes numb cheeks and cold fingers disappear to the tune of childhood nostalgia. I had a glorious walk this morning in some fantastic PNW fog, but my heart almost wishes it was snow. So I’m having a double mocha for my afternoon pick-me-up. Brewed coffee mixed with mocha drinking chocolate, topped with my singular artificial guilty pleasure- Jet Puffed marshmallows.
