The start of a rebuttal was on her lips, ready to deny the claim, yet no matter how she tried, somehow she couldn’t quite seem to get the words out properly. And when she finally managed to speak, the words twisted, became something more… honest.

     “I don’t know. I haven’t really let myself think about it, so I’m not… not entirely sure. …Maybe? But that… I don’t…”

She let out a sound of frustration at this honesty thing making it hard to speak.

     “Look, even if I do, I won’t let it get in the way of our friendship. That’s more important to me, by a long shot. Anything else is just… a hassle for me to deal with. Particularly since I’m fairly certain it would be unrequited.”

There’s an additional mumble, but it’s said entirely too quietly to be decipherable.
