Having a lot of thoughts today about these four and their duality onstage and offstage
Like from what I see Wooyoung, Seonghwa*, Jongho and Yeosang don’t hugely change on and offstage - like yeah they have stage personas (some more than others) but they don’t feel that far a reach from their offstage presentations (unless they’re just acting allllll the time and we never see the real them - it’s a possibility)
*Yes, there is an outward difference between Skin Hwa and cutesy boba eyes Lego building Hwa, but to me the energy doesn’t feel vastly different?? Like whether he’s in beads being choked or pouting over San eating his Lego he still has this intense aura that never changes, you know?? Anyway…
And then we have these four
Yunho™️ vs Yunho (though I am convinced we never see 100% of The Real Yunho because this man likes his privacy even to the point of keeping most of himself for himself and Mingi. To me everything he does feels thought out and filtered through The Brand of Yunho™️ and what would best serve it. The hands, the Jealous Boyfriend vibes etc)
Choi San vs Sannie (ie The Grand Duke vs Pouty Cuddly Kitten. I may be entirely wrong but I feel like he feels the need to play up to the Grand Duke/“Choi San” brand/persona a lot of the time. Unlike how Yunho is always hypervigilantly filtering, with San I feel there’s a definite (at times jarring) on/off switch between these two modes - as the others made fun of him for - from posing in Grand Duke mode to snuggling a pillow and complaining he’s “sweepy 😴”. See also the reel of him performing Creep onstage with his game face on vs in rehearsal grinning like a kid in a candy store and going “woohoo 😽”. Just my opinion but I worry sometimes he seems to get burnt out switching between them and that’s when he can shutdown a bit and retreat. I love offstage Sannie so much I just want to hug him and tell him we love all sides of him 🫶)
Fix On vs Princess Mingki (I do get the vibe from him this is less acting or a front and more just an elevation of his personality - he gets on stage and the vibes and the energy possess him and boom Fix On Song Mingi appears. Like they’re all just versions of himself, not roles he plays but parts of him. Like I think Princess Mingki is another part at the other end of the scale, and maybe his actual personality is somewhere in the middle)
Captain Hongjoong vs Giggly Squirrel Jjoongie (again I wonder how much of this is just that the vibes take him and he transcends this mortal coil to become a deity amongst men. Like offstage he has so many sides - the genius high IQ lyricist/producer, the loser who doesn’t have enough diamonds to touch his wife, Squirrel with the Zoomies, guy who Just Loves Atiny So Much No You Don’t Get It Let Me Tell You Again Let Me Write Them A Song. And then onstage BOOM he is The Captain and we all fall to our knees and start cults and build statues many stories high Can you tell I’m a Hongsami ok bye)
