Okay I think we need to give Angeal some love. What would he come first place in, with Genesis and Sephiroth dragging behind by a far margin? (If I was to guess it would be in the bicep department-)

Angeal has many talents, most of which no one notices until he's not around to demonstrate. He's the best cook. He's the neatest. He's objectively the most sensible and the most focused. He keeps everyone on track, is the more orderly and well-rounded. He doesn't have the same level of intense hang-ups as Sephiroth and Genesis. He's the most popular with the younger recruits. He got to experience a loving household growing up. And it's his Buster Sword, his legacy that remains long after everyone else is gone. It'll be passed down for generations, even though Angeal is not longer around to see for himself.

He's also the best in bed. So there's that too.

What's your sexuality hc for Angeal?

Angeal, at least in my little hc world, is either straight or some form of heteroflexible. He's predominantly attracted to women. With that said, I also like him having an occasional harmless little crush on Sephiroth as well. But in a sad way--knowing it will never happen or work. Especially since he's very aware of Sephiroth's uh..."thing" for Genesis. But he's used to that. He'll never be anyone's popular choice, much less their first one. And he can live with it. It's how things are. And the honorable thing to do is to just accept it and move forward.

Being Group Dad, Angeal feels naturally obligated to herd and monitor everyone in his friend group, whether it's preventing Zack from doing something stupid, or stopping Sephiroth and Genesis from tearing each other to shreds.

Angeal really loves kids and wants a ton of them someday long after he's retired. Six minimum. He's had years of practice thanks to looking after his idiot friends.

Angeal has his personal gestures for each of them. His "puppy" nickname for Zack. Crushing Genesis in a big bear hug. And ruffling Sephiroth's bangs. All personalized acts of intimacy that cement his relationships with them.

Angeal loves taking care of his various house plants as well as gardening. He makes gooey, sappy noises to his plant babies all the time.

Angeal is not very confident around women, more than often selling himself short and getting too flustered to actually flirt.

Zack got him a birthday sweater that says DREAMS on one side and HONOR on the back. It was supposed to be a joke. Angeal wears it unironically.

"Angeal, I'm STARVING."

"Hi, Starving. I'm Angeal."

Always your designated driver in the event he has to maneuver a vehicle. Cut to a very stressed Angeal trying to keep his eyes on the road while a grumbly Seph and Gen keep poking at each other in the backseat.

Whatever's still left of his being in the Lifestream is still looking out for all his friends. He was the first to welcome Zack, though much too soon. He tries to guide a broken and directionless Genesis along as he wrestles with his survivor's guilt. And he keeps trying to compel Sephiroth to relinquish his hate and finally let go.

Also he's the best in bed. Out of everyone. Shhhh they won't teach you this in college 😎

A/G/S reactions to those jumpscare videos?

Genesis initially pretends to be mister big tough bold manly-man, unafraid of anything. He is screaming like a girl and hiding behind his hands within three seconds.

Angeal jumps and then yells at Zack for tricking him into watching this. That's double squats for one hour!

Sephiroth has no apparent outward reaction, though his skin is noticeably prickled and he looks a little frizzed up. His expression remains neutral, until you move to poke him from behind and he ends up flying a foot before nonchalantly going back to his duties.

In your opinion, what would Angeal find attractive in a woman/other potential love interest? How would he go about dealing with feeling attracted to someone, especially if said someone didn’t notice or was just….totally not thinking of their interactions as anything romantic? I feel like there’s never enough Angeal hcs.

Angeal likes small, bookworm type ladies. Or women with a kind streak. Small, vulnerable little things he can protect. He values wholesome relationships and doesn't mind something innocent or vanilla. It shouldn't be something to be ashamed of, in his opinion.

Angeal has always been the odd one out in the trio. He lack's Genesis' passion and ambition and Sephiroth's broody, mysterious charisma. People often just view him as "the boring one", which doesn't help his tendency to not really prop himself up towards people he's attracted to. Angeal copes by being a good soldier and mentor, though part of him is deathly afraid of being alone. Hence why he's always crazy about his legacy of honor--it might be the only reason people might remember him after he's gone. Not like there's anyone else other than his friends who will mourn him.

(i actually thought of "the first losers reacting to making their crush blush" but ange would blush too, gen would make some flirty comment and sephiroth would go 😐)

Angeal starts stumbling and rubbing the back of his head like a big oaf, only to lean closer and reciprocate the gesture. He's a big sweetheart, and yeah he's stammering all over the place, but he's being extremely earnest right now.

Genesis IMMEDIATELY sees this as an invitation for naughtier physical activities and has to be shoved away with a broom. Stop that! Buddy's gotta learn what innocent affection looks like. Maybe his s/o should buy him a manual.

Sephiroth would either get extremely uncomfortable and hostile at the unrecognized action, or would slide into awkward Error 404 mode where he offhandedly pats their head and just kind of...wanders off. He's got to do a thing. Definitely a thing. A mission or something. Duty calls. Yep.

Crisis Core but Crisis Core doesn't happen and it's also ten years later.

Shinra forces Sephiroth into a loveless marriage for publicity, shoving him into "retirement" so they can create the image of a happy (and marketable!) family man. Sephiroth is completely miserable, longing for the battlefield, completely unable to perform his "duties" to his potted plant of a wife, and having a midlife crisis and what might be a (non-lethal) mental breakdown in his early 30's.

Angeal sustained a permanent leg injury from a scouting mission gone bad and now walks with a limp. Thankfully, he's peacefully retired and managed to ask out the cute girl at the front desk. They are now married with seven kids and Angeal is honestly pretty chill with how things turned out for him.

Genesis grows incredibly bored with Shinra after being the only big-name First left on duty. While being number 1 was initially all he'd ever wanted, the loneliness of the job begins to get to him. He breaks off on his own, briefly siding with the rogue terrorist group Avalanche, though he eventually grows bored with that as well. Rumors have circulated for a long time that he and Sephiroth have been covertly having a passionate affair behind closed doors. And when Genesis eventually leaves Midgar to seek new adventure and heroics elsewhere, people are surprised to discover that Sephiroth turns up permanently missing around the exact same time as his departure...
