Binocular vision is a trait that predators share. It is vision that uses two eyes with overlapping fields of view, allowing for good depth perception. Good depth perception is something that is needed when stalking prey. It is imperative for the survival of predatory animals. Monocular vision is a trait shared by prey animals. It is vision in which both eyes are used separately. This allows for an increased field of view so that prey animals see when a predator is lurking nearby. It is imperative for the survival of prey animals. We have binocular vision for a reason. I am a predator. I wear that badge with honor. For me, this is by telling stories about my past. Unpacking my history. Examining the boxes, the characters of my history. Exploring my past through more than one lens, looking at the lives of the people in my family and writing about them. I have always loved memoir writing but I never knew where to start. I have so many stories packed away in boxes, but I have always struggled with my author voice. At this point its been hard to talk with you God

At this point its been hard to even sing a word out of my lips to bring you praise

At this point its been hard to even understand what it means when you say, “I love you Dan, you’re my son Dan, I love you!”

The only thing that’s making me hold onto you is the friends that I’m surrounded by here at Wheaton. You’re lucky that I have these loving friends here... you’re lucky that I’m at a school surrounded by Christians... Chamnah... but ironically you’re the one that put me here in the first place. Ironically, you’re the one that placed these friends in my life, you’re the one that placed me in this school.  It’s weird... I’m mad at you but at the same time I still know that you are my God... There isn’t a disconnect between an unfortunate event and my faithfulness towards you. Definitely thankful and shows where my roots are. But God... where are you taking me now?

Still mad at you though God... still don’t feel like worshiping, still don’t feel like talking with you... so why am I talking to you right now? Just in case you haven’t noticed and haven’t heard the moanings of your own Spirit inside me. You know just in case...
