Thing that I'm enjoying quite a bit about WTD's current iteration of Pennywise is that they are really selling and driving home the alien nature of his character a lot more. From the brief scenes we've gotten with him we're able to see just how simple and primal the motivations are that drive his behavior and general demeanor— as someone who has always really zeroed in on this aspect of his characterization regardless of which version of the story it belongs to I greatly appreciate that he seems a little more... Unnerving. The way he interacts with people on a personal level is genuinely uncomfortable at times and I adore it; he feels dangerous in an unpredictable way. Any attempts to display humanity are visibly fake and pantomimed on a range between cheap and just like bare-minimum adequate depending on the amount of effort he's willing to expend. Which is not often much and this is why his lazy ass primarily hunts children who are more easily manipulated BUT I DIGRESS
One thing that's very important to remember about this guy like I would daresay the most crucial facet of his character is that he is THE most egotistical piece of shit and he thinks that NO ONE is above him or for that matter on equal footing with him. To see him having those interactions with Ingrid outside the Black Spot was legitimately fascinating to watch because you can see that he's clearly humoring her misplaced affection for her "daddy" right up until she begs him not to leave her— i.e, ASKING something of him, probably even came off like a demand to him which is a BIG fuckin no no in Pennywise world. In Pennywise world it does not matter who the fuck you are or think you are, his say so is the only thing that matters which is why I say that her getting out of this particular display of audacity with all her appendages still attached was genuinely surprising to me. I was thinking there was no way she'd stay breathing much longer after that but again he's unpredictable! Did he entertain the Bob Gray shit out of pity?? Sadistic amusement??? Maybe it was both who knows!! He's a loose cannon and I fuckin love him for it
