three positive things i have witnessed today:
1. i was helping filing my chorus teacher’s stuff (because im the librarian) without her asking to because i just assumed it was something that needed to be done and her face lit up in pure joy when she walked into the room and found almost all of them done
2. i had rrrrrly bad period cramps during history today to the point where i didn’t rly care who knew i was on my period so i asked my friend if she had advil and she said no (i feel kinda bad cause she felt super guilty) and then a bunch of people offered me advil. this guy had this huuuuge container filled to the brin with ibuprofen. told me to let him know if i needed any. my friend ran across the room and slid my advil. idk it was such a small gesture of kindness that rly made my day
3. on the way home from school my cramps acted up again, and i curled into a ball in the front seat (my brother was driving). he asked what was wrong and i said i had period cramps. instead of acting all weird about it, he said that if i ever felt the need during the drive i could a) rant, b) scream, c) take a sip of his iced coffee, or d) cry and he was so understanding and empathetic it made me feel so so so so so wholesome
my day was pretty sucky today, and humans are biologically wired to focus and remember the bad things (as it helped our ancestors learn and survive). but now we are advanced and capable organisms. we can afford to focus on love and peace for a while, even if the whole world is slowly decaying into hell.
