My Henry is an older man who feels immense guilt for the neglect and death of his daughter. He regrets trusting William and being ignorant of the kind of man he was. While being troubled by the whirlwind romance they once had.

You can insult my characters I do not mind. I don't take offense because they are fictional. But I would prefer not to be slurred at.

Vanessa gotta be the worst character in the FNAF movies. Gotta be the most shoe in character. If the movies are weak it's cuz the focus on a random pizza plex character being forced in as the MC replacing the role of Mike, Michael, and Elizabeth.

The movies are weak for multiple reasons, but blaming a character is just really dumb. Vanessa is not "replacing" Mike, Michael or Elizabeth — she is her own character with her own story that is more similar to her game counterpart than her Michael ever will be.

Your criticism of Vanessa is stemming from the fact she's "replacing" your favorite character rather than the movies not handling her well at all. I'll be for real here, Vanessa and her arc, is one of the more interesting parts of the story. If you think the movies would be better if they cut her out, you're simply wrong because I think the exploration of her trauma, albeit not that good because (c'mon this is fnaf), is pretty compelling.

Respectfully, maybe you should wonder why you hate one of the only female characters in the movie and think she's ruining your experience for daring to have a character who is only similar to Michael in three ways maximum.

To narrow down the point to "because I hate the only woman character" ignores the fact that she has been replacing Elizabeth as well... I don't know I don't think Vanny from the Pizza Plex should be Circus Baby, or take the role from Elizabeth. She was out in the movie to capitalize off Security Breach. Then they scrambled on where to go with Vanessa and left Mike in the dark.

How her writing is weak, how the fact her and Mike have terrible dialogue in 2. Or the dating nonsense. How the first movie was about Mike and Abby, then we switch over to Vanessa, but only partially, also if a trauma is the only defining feat of a woman's writing that is fucking shit writing... I do not like when men get to play different roles but Vanessa can only play one? Also she's a cop... I refuse copaganda bullshit. ACAB mf.

That doesn't even cover the surface of the critic of the movie's bad writing but I can tell we make shit up before we ask questions 🫢

Also ew. You used the word "female" and are trying to claim misogyny? Also I guess we'll ignore Abby and Charlotte... But hell, I guess only Vanessa is the only character who is a woman or woman presenting in the entire movie series, no one else.

Also if you want to make a point, maybe instead of pointing the finger at me, we ask why the FNAF series lacks diversity? Or why Cassidy was replaced by a boy? Or how Jeremiah is poorly written in the novelisation and practically absent in the movies... But yes, let's claim misogyny on my end but refer to women and women presenting people as "female, while also ignoring the social issues and commentaries that are being portrayed on screen.

I think that Mrs. Afton was equally abusive to the children. Like obviously William was a terrible father but I think Clara Afton was equally a pos. Maybe she didn't know about the murders. But she stood behind close doors, smoked watching William hit Michael im sure. But it's because they both had their favorite which was Evan. The baby boy. Then of course when he died it went to Elizabeth. The favorite, the little one.

She was a neglectful alcoholic who just let William's abuse of Michael go on.

I think she let him hurt Michael not protection for herself but because she's a negligent woman.

This of course is not a theory to the actual game just my own universes Clara.

I think you’re combining three different criticisms and treating them as one. If your argument is that some fans use Jax’s trauma or transness to deflect criticism of his behavior, then I agree that’s bad. If your argument is that Gooseworx handled serious topics poorly, that’s a separate criticism. If your argument is that the voice actor’s conduct reflects badly on the project, that’s another separate criticism.

What I don’t see is how any of that proves that Jax being trans is itself harmful representation. “Some fans excuse an abusive character because they identify with him” is a fandom problem, not necessarily a writing problem. People did the same thing with BoJack, Walter White, Rick Sanchez, and countless other characters. The existence of fans who miss the point doesn’t automatically mean the character shouldn’t exist or that the representation itself is bad.

Holy moley. You brought it up that way. That's the point I'm disputing.

The BoJack comparison kind of proves the opposite point, though. BoJack is relatable to a lot of people, but the show never says his actions are okay. Understanding why someone is awful isn’t the same thing as excusing them. If TADC is actually saying “Jax is fine because he went through something,” then criticize that. But that’s a different claim from “Jax is a trans character and therefore bad representation.”

I will try to break this down, again.

- TADC fanbase is filled with media illiterate people

- They do not allow you to criticize their big chungus

- They have used (not all fans) his trauma and him being trans as an excuse against criticism.

- Gooseworx is a pos

- Bojack horseman fans say "I relate to my big chungus" which is problematic

- Jax is also irredeemable

- both characters cannot be redeemable

- Show runners for BoJack made a satire that has something to say, and critique about masculinity and mental health.

- Gooseworx made a vent character to fetishize with little to none of the original material i.e. I have no mouth, and I must scream, being critiqued, questioned, or thought beyond what is originally being presented.

- Both fan bases have both clinically online and unintelligent fans who love their "big chungus" character. Only difference is Bojack horsemen fans are insufferable men who don't realize the show is critiquing them. TADC fans are clear white liberalism at its finest ignoring the problematic and systemic racism (the voice actor) and his trauma and gender because the silly wabbit can't be criticized because he sad while ignoring the fact he is an abuser and a pos. His trauma being used to shield him from well defined criticism.

I get what you mean about demonization, but I think that only applies if the story ties Jax’s transness to his cruelty. Like, as a FNaF fan, you probably wouldn’t say Elizabeth being a girl who becomes Baby means the story is demonizing girls, or that Michael being in some way abused and morally messy means abuse victims are being portrayed as bad. The issue is whether the marginalized trait is framed as the source of the evil. With Jax, his transness doesn’t seem to be why he’s cruel; he’s just a cruel character who also happens to be trans.

If I wrote a story with an abusive jerk and has racists voice act my project and when ppl call me out on it and how the character is a bad person and trauma does not make those characteristics acceptable, but came out and was like it's okay... He's just going through something.

It's as bad as people who think Bojack horseman is a good guy and relatable.

The problem would be if Jax is awful because he’s trans, or if the story connected his transness to his behavior. As far as I can tell, it doesn’t. He’s just a bad person who also happens to be trans. Those aren’t the same thing.

I don't know how to connect to the issues to have you understand what I mean because this was addressed already.

I don’t really see how Jax being trans makes him immune to criticism. Plenty of people criticize him already, and plenty of trans fans criticize him too. Representation doesn’t mean a character has to be morally good; it means they’re allowed to be as flawed, selfish, or awful as any other character. If anything, insisting marginalized characters can only be sympathetic role models is its own limitation.

No one is saying that can't be flawed. But as a queer person myself I find it agitating that once again queerness and trans-ness is being viewed in a negative light.

Flaws are important to every character you write. It defines us as humans and living beings.

However when there is a collective history of the demonization of a marginalized group I find that disgusting.

“If a trans character dies and people are happier afterward, the story is saying trans people dying is good” is the kind of logic that would make literally any character death impossible to write.

Obviously I am aware of that. But I think gooseworx set this up in an impossible way to criticize Jax. Well tadc as a whole tbh.

I say that in jest and in the most cynical way too. But it's frustrating to once again perpetuate something like this i.e. jax being a bad person, but you can't criticize him because he's trans "like me" and I connect to him.

So let me get this straight

- suggest this character is a marginalized persons

- they are a terrible person with 0 redeemable qualities.

This isn't "flaws" or "quirks" this is a character who is universally an abuser to his own friends.
