The short, slim calico feline, Morghanna hummed to herself as she rocked the stool she was sitting on from side to side. She was grinning as she had her magnifying goggles down over her eyes, very carefully soldering the fine wires into the new handheld device she was working on.
Reaching for her bottle of flux without really paying attention, she knocked it over on its side and it rolled off of her work table. She watched in dismay as it clunked tot he floor and rolled over towards the open door to the rest of the building. Not wanting to let go of the delicate wiring, she called out to anyone passing by who might be able to help her. Just a few seconds later, a grouchy looking badger poked his head through the doorway, squinting at her. “Yeah, what’s yer problem?” “Oh, hey Rob! Hey, could you do me a favor and hand me that bottle of flux that fell on the floor over there? I’m afraid if I let go of this wiring I’m going to lose track of what goes where.” The badger squints at her even harder, not saying anything for several seconds before taking a long, loud slurp of his coffee. “Sounds like a you problem.” Morghanna’s jaw dropped as he just spun on his heel and walked away down the hallway. Grumbling under her breath, the feline very carefully laid down the bundle of wires, splaying them out so that she could remember which was which. Carefully setting down her soldering iron, she hopped off of her stool and went over to pick up the bottle. Right as she was heading back to her seat she heard the air conditioning kick on for the lab and whimpered as she saw the fine, delicate wires caught in the breeze blowing in all directions, twisting and tangling with each other. A few hours later, a very grumpy and hungry Morghanna was stalking her way to the employee break room for a late lunch when she heard something. Her ears twitched as she followed the odd high-pitched noises coming from one of the workrooms nearby. Poking her head into the office, she had to stifle a laugh. There, on top of the work table was Rob. He was entirely nude, having shrunk down to the height of a golf pencil. He had shoved the controls for the size-shifting device he had been working on over towards the spot where the ray was focused and was slamming his fist down on the buttons as hard as he could, trying to get the device to fire. “Help! Hey, somebody help me!” The feline stops in the doorway for a moment, leaning against the frame as she watches her poor coworker struggling. Finally walking into the room, she leans down close to the tiny badger. “Hey, so it looks like you need some help here.” “OH! Oh, Morghanna, thank goodness! This stupid machine misfired and I’m not heavy enough to activate the buttons on my own. Quick, give me a hand with this, will you?” She hums and picks up the controller., turning it over in her hand. Giving the badger a malicious, toothy grin, she drops the controller to the floor far below. She leans forward, looming over him for a moment before snarling out. “Sounds like a you problem.” She then turns on her heel and stalks down the hallway once more in search of lunch.
Hey all people, tell me why you hate your boss and what they did.
Imagine, working in one of the toughest Detroit neighborhoods, at a school. Imagine being a new arrival, not knowing what to expect from the school staff. Now, this coworker of yours decided to size you up and figured you were a sucker, a punching bag, and an easy target. Her other coworkers are convinced by the bully that you're easy and you ain't shit.
Now this treatment continues, files are mysteriously disappearing, suddenly supervisors are noticing everything you do and nitpick your work. Without any reason, you're ostracized by other works. No one treats you to lunch, the withering looks are noticed by you. Every instance, the office bully and her handmaiden glance at each other with a shit-eating grin.
After 3 months, you decide to voice your concerns about the behavior of your colleagues. You do, then you meet with the principal along with the treacherous duo. After a few minutes, you're being gaslit, accused of 'making the office have a weird vibe', and all of the parents are saying that you're rude, and also 'other staff' are concerned with your behavior.
You decide that you are going to be the bigger person and make the office more peaceful, but still the coworkers treat you with derision and scorn. Now, your supervisor is now treating you like a moron.
Enough.
You decide to go and give an email to the state civil rights office. ENOUGH. Tired of the ostracizing, bullying and the gaslighting. Two weeks later, there was a call from the intake worker of the civil rights office. After 20 minutes, you notice some whispering, it's your coworkers listening to the conversation. When returning to work, the original bully is SEETHING.
Stay tuned.
I will be leaving my homophobic workplace in June, and I have been stealth the entire time. Is it worth it to come out to them as a binary trans man?
No, if they can’t figure it out on their own that’s their problem
Yes, but wait until right before leaving forever (last paycheque in hand)
