Am so stressed out right now!
I have so much to fix for my house and am calling people for like house maintenance stuff and idk what am even doing fml
Am basically a home owner now and yeah- am old but dam guys idk what am doing :( being an adult is hard fff

After being sick
Just incase someone hadn’t thought about these things I’m looking at you weird cousin who I see twice a year.
- Change you sheets & towels, and wash all the clothes you have worn and been in contact to
- disinfect door handles, remotes, laptop and phone surfaces
- Throw away the trash
- thoroughly clean up your toothbrush, but I recommend just getting a new one.
- If you had used hobby equipments like pencils, also run a wash cloth over those.
Glitter Poo
It was a strange looking thing, the nest that dominated a substantial part of Arthur’s rafters.
A collection of sticks and spiderweb, woven together with ribbon, scarves, bits of fine chain, and what looked suspiciously like unicorn hair.
Let it not be said that Fairies were uncreative in their nest-building.
They were also remarkably stubborn. He had sprayed them four times already, and to no avail.
They stole the subsonic rat-chaser he put out, and smashed it.
They chased his cat whenever poor Sox tried to hunt them.
They left their glittery little poos on every surface imaginable. If he liked the pests more, he might worry about what they were eating to make them shit glitter.
“You got a bad infestation,” Ralph stated the obvious. “That’s an established colony, that is.”
“I know,” Arthur tried to control his temper. “They’re ripping out my wiring, and spraying them did no good.”
“Well sure,” Ralph was an exterminator who specialized in this kind of thing. “These guys are real poison resistant. They adapt fast you know. Like cockroaches.”
“So how the hell do I get rid of them?”
Ralph swayed away one that got to close, and the hive buzzed menacingly.
They had a nasty, fever-inducing note that Arthur preferred to avoid after the last time. Like bees, workers hummed in and out of the entrance, past small, bone-plated warriors.
Not sentient like their more famous kin, These fairies were the size of a good sized beetle and about as intelligent.
Pretty little balls of glowing light. When they weren’t causing thousands in damage, anyway.
“I brought bait with me.” The exterminator shrugged and pulled out a large bowl and a bag. “Sugar, honey, and borax. We’re gonna leave it out for a week, and I’ll come back with a specialized spray to deal with the stragglers.”
“This has better work,” Arthur glared balefully up at the beachball-sized nest that stirred with activity. “They’re destroying my house.”

Not actually apartment, but house! I might inherit a house soon. What do I need to do as far as maintenance, and how do I do it? I feel like I'll live there for a few months and then it'll explode and everyone will be like "you didn't oil the furnace??" or something like that. Although I understand if you can't or don't want to answer non-apartment questions.
Hey! That’s awesome, congrats to you. The bad news about owning a home is that you’re responsible for all the repairs and maintenance. The good news is that you can hire professionals to take care of serious things (i.e. plumbers, electricians, exterminators) and there are tons of resources online to help you! Safety is also important, so things like smelling for gas leaks, turning off ovens and burners, inspecting wires that could cause sparks, inspecting for any signs of water damage or flood risk. Also make sure your locks are good and that you close your windows when you leave.

Cleaning The Oven Mine is self-cleaning, which means it locks itself shut and heats up above cooking temps and burns all the built-up gunk inside to ash. The cycle for this takes 4 hours 20 minutes, which is slightly humorous. I do this on a chilly day where I can be home because it puts out a lot of heat, and I close a couple doors because there is a touch of smoke. I like to do this ahead of the heavier oven-use that comes with colder weather and winter baking. If you don’t have a self-cleaning oven I recommend the organic oven cleaner of your choice, a tough scrubby and really sturdy gloves. Once done, there's white ash in the oven. The oven window was still gunky so while still fairly hot, I hand-scrubbed the glass with some baking soda. It's tricky to not get burnt but totally worth the cleaning effort.
