insomnia thoughts. -- so. heads up this makes no sense and is kinda dumb and is more just so i remember it in the morning. but the transporters in star trek: what if they beam you up, mind and body -- not mind, body, and soul. so that first time you have to use one, you're left detached from your soul. and all of starfleet knows this: to be a cadet, you have to sign a waver understanding your position, knowing you might (probably will) end up soulless. and it's not AWFUL per say, but everyone notices the difference after their first time. it always takes a beat for everyone to come back after it, because they can't help but falter. and obviously no one knows what it means for you after you die. but there's enough people who would trade their soul to touch the stars.
