richard bowen i love you
EJ was so adorable and happy for the majority of the episode, he was having the time of his life and starting his perfect summer.
Now he's been burdened with directing the "first ever" community production of the Broadway version of Frozen and Ricky's gonna steal (back?) Gina from him.
Bless EJ's little heart, all he wanted was to be a kid and be sappy with his girlfriend.
even though we all keep saying how much EJ has changed for the better and he had a ton of growth in season 2 (all of which is true), at camp, even though he hasn't seen Val and Maddox since last year, before all the big changes we've seen him go through, neither of them made any comments like "you seem different but in a good way" or anything like that, which leads me to believe he's still the same guy at his core, and he's always been a sweet, thoughtful guy and gone out of his way to do things for other people. Because they both adored him (and it seemed like everyone at camp does) and didn't seem to have any issues with him and it didn't seem like either of them thought he was a bad guy at all or thought that he had ever been a bad guy. just a nice little thought that makes me happy. this basically confirms that EJ has always been a good guy, not always perfect, but a good guy 🥰
hear me out... in the spirit of hsm 2 songs...
jet: “i don’t dance”
ricky: “i say you can”
GUYS.
I WOULD SCREAM AND CRY.
And then the ending… 😍

Folks noticing Gina & Ricky’s feelings for each other coming out during this performance of “What Do You Know About Love?”
I hate when people act like Ricky needs to take from dating as if he isn't totally different from himself in season 1. The whole point in Rini getting back together was essentially prepping him to be a better boyfriend. He learns vulnerability, tact, and just overall grew up. If anyone needs to take a break from dating, it's EJ. Is he not as much of an a-hole as he was in season 1? Yes, he definitely improved there. However, he's only just started to deal with his issues. I'm not saying he has to be perfect to be in a relationship, but he should be able to get to a point where he's not hiding his feelings. If we're going to compare the two, Ricky is in a much better place to be dating around because he shows he can express his feeling in a moderately healthy way. EJ's going through a lot and needs the time to figure it out without also managing a relationship.
