Importance of Role Models

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you will enjoy today's topic which is the importance of role models. A role model is someone looked at by others as a great example to follow; it may be due to their accomplishments, beliefs, and attitudes.

Here some reasons why it is crucial to have a role model:

Learn the characteristics of a successful person: These ideal characteristics vary for which it depends on what you think makes a leader a successful one.  For example, it can be someone's patience, communication skills, and/or their effort to work in teams. Having a role model teach you skills and pass on their qualities of being an efficient worker in your job can go a long way!

Finding ways to overcome obstacles. Role models can be helpful to show you what are the best and healthy ways to overcome challenges. We often deal with failure, but having someone to talk to can make us realize failure does not stop success from happening in the future. It is crucial to have a role model because after hearing their experiences, you can feel more ready to handle drawbacks.  

Becoming the best version of yourself. Having a role model is a great way to help you discover your best qualities, eventually becoming the best version of who you are. When looking at a person and their attitudes, beliefs, and values, it gives you a guideline and in the end, you get to decide what values are important as you are your own person. Having a role model and recognizing what they have done in their life can improve your own characteristics.  

Here at HTH Training Center, a program from the Thaddeus Foundation, we can help you become the best version of yourself. We will be soon offering life & job workshops, support groups, and therapy. These can be very useful as you get to hear other people's experiences, motivate you to improve on skills and qualities, and maybe finding a role model! And hopefully, the skills you learn from HTH Training Center can be utilized to become someone else's role model one day.

Mental Health Awareness: Depression and Anxiety

Good morning everyone, welcome to the HTH Training Center page! I hope you are having a great Wednesday morning and ready to discuss today's content. As the previous blog discusses a general sense of mental health and its importance, this blog will be discussing two common mental health dilemmas: depression and anxiety.  

Depression is the feeling of severe sadness and dejection from life. Some symptoms include feeling depressed nearly every day, having a hard time concentrating, and decreasing interest in activities. Early signs can be not having interest in things anymore, mood changes, and lack of sleep.  

Anxiety is the feeling of worry and fear that leads to interference in your daily life. Some symptoms include racing thoughts, restlessness, and excessive worry. Early signs of anxiety can be rapid heart rates and excessive thoughts.

HTH Training Center are in the progress of having support groups for you to join, one of them focuses on coping with stress and anxiety. This is a great opportunity to be in a community to share your thoughts and meet people who are going through similar life events.

Importance of Higher Education

Hello everyone and welcome to the HTH Training Center page! During the pandemic, we are finding ways to stay active or keep busy like taking care of our kids and trying to work from home. Have you ever thought of going back to school to get a certificate or degree? Lots of things are going on in the world, but it's something to think about. I want to share with you all the importance of higher education and how to work while being a student.

More job choices: When going to higher education, you get to learn more information and gain skills, and that gives you more opportunities in the work force. More employers will look at you and want you to join their team!  

More money (!!!): Bosses tend to pay you more when you have higher education because of the skills you gained throughout training school, community college, state college and beyond. This can really be helpful when needing to pay bills, providing for your families, and yourself!

Learning is rewarding to self and others: Besides money, higher education is important because you get to learn lots of things that you are passionate about. Also, the knowledge you gain from school is something you can pass onto your family and friends.  

Taking some classes might be hard while being a working mom, but it is possible! Many schools like community colleges and trainings schools offer night classes that people can take so you can work during the day and take a few classes through the week. Also, many colleges offer scholarships, aid, and work-study so you can balance more school and work. Here at The Thaddeus Foundation, we can help you by giving you workshops and guidance on how to handle work, school, and being a mom! We can share advice on the processes when applying to school and what you need to be successful!

Self-care During A Pandemic

COVID-19 has surely thrown obstacles and struggles our way. It's as if everything is piling on top of each other. The pandemic is overwhelming that we sometimes forget what we need to focus on first: ourselves. If we cannot take care of ourselves, how will we be resilient and motivated to take care of others. So, is important to slow down and take time for ourselves—to remember we have conquered so much and be ready for whatever comes our way. Here are some ways we can do self-care during these uncertain times:  

Spend time with family and friends

Spending time with family and friends keeps us grounded and helps us remember what blessings we have in life. If possible, call, text, or video chat them. Not only will it improve our well-being, it can help your loved ones feel better!

Maintain a healthy diet and exercise

It can be hard to keep a great diet and exercise routine during the pandemic but remember it's all for your health! Remembering to eat veggies, drinking lots of water, and home cooked meals can go a long way for your physical health. Trying indoors exercise is a great way to do self-care; try some yoga, jumping jacks, and running on a treadmill. You never know, it might end up being totally fun!

Watch new movies and tv shows

During the pandemic, there's lots of time to catch up on movies and tv shows. Or, watch something completely new or something you had put off until now!

Stick to a new hobby!

Hobbies and activities are a great way to see what you like and what you do not like! From doing puzzles, reading books, to baking!

There are many reasons why you should consider to do self-care during the pandemic and beyond. Self-care can improve your mental, emotional, and physical health. It can also bring down depression and anxiety so why not try to boost your mood! Self-care helps motivate us to spend time on ourselves, to make ourselves feel better and at peace. And you do have to do it alone! Do some fun activities with family, friends, and your children! And, The Thaddeus Foundation is a place you can come to, as we want to provide support. Here you can build a community with people who might be going through what you are going through. Although we are not open for in-person support, we are currently doing our best to make our services online during this time, such as case management, therapy, life coaching, and group therapy.
