I'm seeking a couple of beta readers to dip their toes into my novel. (How to Sell Sunshine: real life novel edition)
And by dip their toes, I mean have a peek at my opening chapter. I'm looking for feedback on overall feel, worldbuilding, character dynamics, etc. If the first chapter feels well-paced, like a good hook, all that stuff. It will still be a bit of time before I ask for beta readers to read the entire novel as it's still under a rewrite, but I'm looking forward to that, as well!

Below is a wee little synopsis:
Helena Cano is building a legend. She’s recruiting the best: the rogue with light fingers and a devious smile, a walking legend who swears he's seen a god and paid the price, and a wild card that can vanish between worlds. HORRORTALE STORY SWAP
FINISHED: "CHESHIRE" CHESHIRE CAT (SANS)
It is a demon.
It helps Aliza (Who it often calls Alice) through the underground of MT. WILLDES and many, many predicaments.
However, it still has the unpredictability and psychopathicness of normal Horror Sans.
This makes it so it often gets Aliza killed just so it can have a good laugh, or, to kill Aliza itself if she is being particularly stupid.
It will often make gruesome jokes and puns about Aliza's deaths.
(It is able to be seen in the death screen, think, HorrorTale the official game demo)
Due to being a demon it can just transcend space and time to reprimand Aliza for getting herself killed.
It speaks cryptically, and often says nonsense, but can give helpful tips and or answer questions Aliza may have.
(Again, closest thing to an ingame hint system. Think, questionnaire.)
Often or not it will do as it pleases. Sometimes giving useful advice/tips for things that didn't matter and giving useless information for things that DO matter. Or, it'll just leave Aliza hanging.
It is a manipulator and will gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss, blackmail Aliza into doing things. Sometimes stupid things like forcing Aliza to pet it. Sometimes smart things.
Though, it will still help Aliza.
I.e when they get to the Snowdin portion it decides to allow Aliza to use its jacket.
(It's a demon so it just makes its jacket bigger to fit Aliza.)
(Snowdin is a frozen wasteland where it is FREEZING cold. Flurries and blizzards often occur.)
(Due to no magic it is causing the environments to decay and become much more hostile and unlivable.)
Some of its abilities:
Space-time-reality manipulation. (To an extent.)
Hallucinations: Can give people vivid visions that encompass ALL senses. Auditory, visual, etc.
Contortion: Where it can extend/elongate and stretch its body every which way.
Claws: It can unsheathe unbelievably sharp claws (however long it feels) to cut through anything.
Magic: Y'know. The usual UnderTale magic bullets n stuff.
Notes/Facts:
It gives "scruffy, one-eyed, malnourished thin as a twig alley cat that hisses at anything that moves" vibes.
Bell Collar is optional.
It's friends with Toriel.
