You know, for a httyd movie called “The Hidden World” they really lacked in showing us that world.

Yeah we saw pretty gems, we saw pretty colors, we saw a crap ton of dragons. But that’s all they ever showed us.

Grimmel’s ugly crusty home had more screen time than the actual hidden world.

Can I gush about HTTYD 2 Snotlout for a bit? Because after re-watching HTTYD 2 again on Netflix, I have to sit down for a moment and soak this all in....

I. Love. HTTYD 2 Snotlout!

Not romantically, but as a character. I mean... LOOK AT THESE PHOTOS! You can see a NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE from HTTYD 1, the shorts, RoB, DoB, most of RTTE, and most DEFINITELY THW Snotlout (this version of Snotlout does not exist.) This version of Snotlout is older and more mature. He’s more serious and doesn’t goof off or looks like an idiot or an arrogant, almost-narcissistic, idiotic muttonhead! And he has such a close camaraderie with Fishlegs, Tuffnut, and even ASTRID of all people. ASTRID!!! O_O

And his character design looks so much smoother than his THW version and even HTTYD 1 version.

It’s just UGLY! GAUDY! LOUD! Something HTTYD 1 Snotlout would wear if he could! HTTYD 2 would NEVER wear anything so flashy! EVER! X(

Ugh, I need to wash my eyes out. Hold on...

Now, where was I?

Oh, yes. Snotlout is just so great in HTTYD 2. It’s like we get to see the culmination of his maturity at its apex, zenith, pinnacle, height, etc. It’s glorious! :’)

I think it’s kinda sad that I never really noticed how mature Snotlout grew and how much more of a man he became until I watched THW. It was like a light bulb hit me right then. Like Snotlout reached across the TV screen and smacked me on the forehead with his hammer. (And let me tell you, it hurt.)

I really think that when DreamWorks got bought out by that comcast company, and much of the staff for the franchise got fired or relocated to different films, I think it was inevitable that it was going to hurt THW. Either that, or DeBlois was doing this intentionally or was on drugs, because, seriously, how did he go from this...

...to THIS?

It’s just so... mind-boggling! And it pains me so much that DeBlois just THREW AWAY AND BURNED his entire character arch/development! And in HC, I think Snotlout even dyed his hair blond! I mean, understandable, because Vikings did that a lot because having blond hair was the social trend, but STILL! WHY?!

I just really miss HTTYD 2 Snotlout. And from now on, ALL of my versions of Snotlout, even in THW fanfics, will be based on HTTYD 2 Snotlout and NO OTHER LOUT! EVER!

Okay, I’m done gushing now. At the moment.

Venting about HTTYD 3 stuff I’ve seen recently

What’s with this sudden rise of thinking people who criticize certain aspects of HTTYD 3 or have different opinions when it comes to certain parts of the franchise have “missed the entire point of the franchise” or “didn’t understand HTTYD 3″? 

Like I’ve seen some people say that others shouldn’t treat their opinions about HTTYD 3 as fact (I agree) and say their own opinions about HTTYD 3 aren’t fact but then they say crap like the stuff mentioned above and just??? So your interpretations and thoughts about HTTYD 3 are opinions, and their interpretations and thoughts about HTTYD 3 are opinions, but their opinions are so wrong they missed the entire point of the franchise and didn’t understand the movie at all?

Like sorry that I don’t think Toothless was portrayed as just an animal throughout most of the franchise. Yes, I think the bond between an animal and a human can be deep and meaningful and you can certainly have an animal as a friend, even a best friend, and yes animals can certainly be more intelligent than a lot of people think. I just don’t think that was how Hiccup and Toothless’ friendship was meant to be portrayed originally, and personally I find the idea of a friendship between a boy and a creature that doesn’t quite think the same way, but has human-like intelligence more compelling and fitting within the franchise and also more interesting considering there’s already so many “boy befriends animal” movies out there. I don’t think I’m missing a major point of the franchise or crapping on animal-human bonds for thinking this way. I don’t think others are missing a major point of the franchise for having a different opinion. Please people, stop acting like you’re smarter than others for thinking Toothless was just an animal all along or whatever.

No, I don’t dislike HTTYD 3 just because the ending isn’t happy. If any HTTYD 3 fans are reading this...please don’t say things like this. Please. It’s so annoying to read things like that. 

Whoops this is longer than I intended and is kinda disjointed and I probably didn’t word some things very well but man behavior like this really annoys me and I just had to rant and share my thoughts on certain things.

(As a sort of endnote, yes I have seen similar behavior from people that criticize HTTYD 3. No, I don’t think it’s correct and I try to avoid saying things like that in my own posts. I can understand why some people like HTTYD 3 and disagree with me on certain things.)

THERE WAS A DELETED SCENE IN THE HIDDEN WORLD WHERE HICCUP AND STOICK TAKE IN A BABY BIRD AND HICCUP IS TASKED TO NURSE IT BACK TO HEALTH BECAUSE IT HAS A BROKEN WING!

WE NEEDED THIS SCENE MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE BECAUSE OF WHAT STOICK SAYS IN IT.

“He’s your responsibility now, take care of him until he’s ready to go back into the wild.”

WHEN HICCUP LETS TOOTHLESS AND THE OTHER DRAGONS GO, IT WOULD CONNECT BACK TO THAT ONE MOMENT HE HAD WITH STOICK AND IT WOULD’VE MADE THE ENDING A LITTLE BIT BETTER!

WHY DREAMWORKS, WHY DID YOU ROB US OF THIS?!?!

Just rewatched the hidden world yesterday. I fast forwarded the past the dragons left until it got to the wedding so I could gaslight myself in thinking that the dragons were with them.

Because Toothless would totally be Hiccup’s best man at his wedding. Wearing a little suit and everything

Man, I am dreading this new Snoggletog short. Not only because I really dislike HTTYD 3, but because if it’s the project Richard Hamilton was hinting at (which it very well might be, but I’ve also heard he have plans for another HTTYD game?) then the Night Light’s genders are gonna be revealed and my headcanons are going to be completely destroyed. No joke, those headcanons are some of the very few things from HTTYD 3 that give me joy, and they aren’t even things actually shown in the movie lmao. I just know they’re going to do the most cliche crap and have the blue-eyed one be female, and the two green-eyed ones be males (R.I.P Strika, Snowy, and Norbert...), and I also have a feeling that they’re really gonna hammer in the whole “Hiccup and Toothless never see each other again after the end of HTTYD 3″ which Dean confirmed in an interview which will make it much harder for me to ignore it lol.

I’m aware that most of this is pretty petty (which is why I won’t put it in the main tags only the criticism/salt ones) but I still wanted to share my thoughts. Anyone feel similarly?
