rewatching riders/defenders of berk is so nostalgic but it also rekindled my hatred for mildew, gods, i can't stand that old man!! i have love in my heart for all the antagonists except him. i know it's a good thing when a character makes you experience emotions but that emotion is hatred and i need to see that man be set on fire. i love his role in the story but i hate him. public enemy no. 1.

Big fan of Mildew's existence purely bc everytime he's on screen despite his uncanny ability to harness Berk's mob mentality, it's still very clear everyone fucking hates him and he's the village pariah. And it makes me wonder how often pre-httyd Hiccup who shared a similar social outcast status that was Still not as severe thought to himself 'my life is pretty shitty but at least I'm not Mildew'

mildew's house has axes (and maybe other weapons) oscillating from his ceiling like chandeliers and i weirdly think that's something that Astrid would like or have in her house too. i head canon that her hut in The Edge probably did.
