In an "rtte is a show in the show and the gang are all actors" au, astrid probably got into a fight with one of the producers of RTTE and so they decided to butcher her character the rest of the show.

Ruffnut had some sort of crush/deep admiration for Hiccup that, even though I know the writers couldn't have, I wish they explored more. The few scenes we have of them in ROB and DOB - RTTE are so sweet, and subtly electric. I don't know if it's so endearing and fun to watch because Hiccup has chemistry with everyone or if it's because Ruffnut chaotic energy just clicks with whoever she's paired with. They're both so sweet.

And if anyone has any fic recommendations about these two, let me know please! I'm starving for Ruffcup.

Astrid getting together with Hiccup at the end of Blindsided sort of pissed me off. They should have waited an episode or two later to get them together. Blindsided should have ended with us finding out that Astrid's temporary blindness had an effect on her eyesight and her sitting under Stormfly's wing as she's relieved to have her sight back, but she's seen worrying about how this will effect her as a warrior and her skills in battle. Then, the rest of season 4 and the next, we should have seen her adjusting to that change and still beating the fuck out Dragon Hunters while she's at it. It could have been a cool arc for her character, and maybe it could have taught the audience about adjusting and dealing with change. The change of something that effects your ability to be what you are at your core. It would have given us more Astrid lore in Race to the Edge too.

I know this is why head canons exist or whatever, but I can still and am allowed to complain about a show I love too, lmao.
