Fallout headcanon

Cooper Howard once acted in a sci-fi movie based on the works of Dick Hubbell, a sci-fi writer who founded Hubology (The Fallout universe's parody of Scientology).

The Hubologists still exist post-War. Imagine if Cooper meets one, hears about their religion, and realizes it's just the plot of one of his old movies.

I just love how nonchalantly he's sitting in the chair. Nuka-world is kinda getting to Captain Richardson, it looks like.

Bass has bad luck with cults.

Hesitant to do anything for the Hubologists after he had to massacre the Pillars of the Community (who tried to kill him first), Bass reluctantly retrieved their space suits.

Are they crazy? Are they swindlers? He had his suspicions, but decided to investigate further.

They lost one Hubologist on the way to the junkyard. Seemed pretty dumb to die for a trash carnival ride, but he tried…so hard… to keep an open mind.

Finding this all very amusing, and somewhat curious, Bass popped a bunch of Rad-X and underwent 8 “alignments” in a row. He had a ton of caps, and this…should have been hilarious. Right?

Only, after he reached AHS-8, everyone stopped speaking to him. 😠

So, he finished his job. Got their little ride working.

They wouldn’t listen, kept trying to cram hogwash down his throat even after Dara made it clear it is all a scam. He flipped the switch on the ride, and got his fancy ammo as a reward when it was finished.

And for good measure…

…put those lunatic criminals out of their misery before they could take advantage of anyone else.

Does he feel guilty? Maybe a little. Mostly no. This is the smartest he has ever felt in his life.

His name isn’t really Wachusett, but he accepts it.

smallish backstory on wachusett, and why he doesn't consider himself a man of the cloth: he's been both a hubologist and a child (his parents were children). his spirituality is entirely his own, influenced by the teachings of both hub and atom, married intimately with archaic and incomplete understandings of the prewar christian faith that he gleaned through the church ruins he grew up near and visited often as the most common source of reading material. one religion is very "epistle" oriented, another is "rite of passage," and the third very much has both--and yet, he's on no such path to bring or share his philosophies to those unwilling. his faith is extremely centered in transubstantiation as a non-metaphor, and blood-based chemistry and such are crucial to his observance. he's a deeply religious and spiritual creature, but the internalization of his practice is core to his understanding of what his god wants of her faithful

the crypt in those pics is actually the crypt beneath the aforementioned church; the shack-house in "hungry work" (and "high fidelity" if i can be arsed to finish it) is on the same property as the church.
