(Here’s my problem. I live for apocalypse aus, specifically zombie apocalypse aus even though I’m terrified if zombie apocalypses. But idk something about like everything in ruins and people trying to survive together fuckin gets me so I love this too much and will 100% get carried away (like i almost made it just a full oneshot bc i love this idea too much but unfortunately ya girl has zero time lately) so lets go !!!!!!)
At the beginning of the apocalypse, everybody would be surprised somebody like Hui even made it because he’s easily terrified, he just kinda runs away and yells and cries, so like how did he even manage to escape getting eaten? That’s when you found him, and you had been running around with your friend that had escaped with you when the apocalypse started. He’s like, crying in the corner of an abandoned grocery store because there was a zombie in the back room and he knows he’s gonna die, but you come in and smash its skull in and save his life, so you and your friend decided to adopt him into your group. And let me tell you, months of narrowly escaping death and being surrounded by the undead will start to harden you up, and Hui definitely isn’t the terrified person you’ve come to know (especially not after he had to watch your friend get eaten alive and then comfort you afterwards). So you and Hui have been partners in crime for what feels like forever, and you know each other super fucking well. Like, y’all don’t even have to call out things when you’re fighting zombies, you both just seem to know what the other is going to do and then how to help. But being stuck together and only being around each other has made you both gain some feelings. Hui isn’t the tiny scaredy-cat you used to see him as, and you aren’t the crazy, stone-cold person he used to see you as. You’ve grown a lot closer -- so close, in fact, that you and Hui often joke that you may as well be married (plus, being in a zombie apocalypse isn’t really the best time to get laid so neither of you have really had any in a long time and loneliness builds up). But neither of you ever made a move because you’re just trying to live through each day and night, so you don’t really have the time, but you also don’t really know if the other feels the same tension. It’s not until you both end up getting trapped in the basement of an abandoned house that suddenly becomes surrounded by zombies that anything changes. Hui saved you from getting shot by raiders who were hiding out in the house, and you saved him from getting killed by the zombies that said raiders attracted to the house since you pissed them off. And when the two of you get back to your little hideout, you really realized that you may not get a tomorrow. Either of you could die at any moment, so why not act on your feelings? Needless to say, you didn’t really sleep a ton that night, and watching the sunrise with your head on Hui’s bare chest and listening to his heartbeat is pretty nice.
