What are your headcanons on Hythlodaeus? 👀👀

OMG you asked the right question! I adore Hyth, and I really need to write for him in the near future. So my headcanons...

He is a total troll, and he loves getting under Hades’ skin. He enjoys annoying him, and his favorite thing to do is sing about how Hades’ mom Fae is hot. (See @meepsthemiqo’s post HERE for reference).

Hythlodaeus is Hades’ best friend, and they have known each other for a long time. Even with Hyth’s trolling, he also genuinely loves Hades like he was his own brother, and he wants what’s best for him.

Hyth also is best friends with Persephone, and she befriended him right away, as soon as she had moved to Amaurot. Hyth is the one she drags with her to go shopping, to the movies, or to go to the coffee shop.

Because Hyth and Persie are so close, Hades actually gets jealous at times, especially when he’s really busy with the Convocation and can’t spend as much time with her like he wants to. Hades gets better about it after he and Persie get together, but those lingering feelings of jealousy remain at times.

Once, Hades asked Hyth if he was interested in Persephone, and to Hades’ horror, Hyth responded with “No, I’m more into your mom.” 😉

Now my headcanons for he looks like I am still unsure about. However, I really love @shinjyu’s art of Hyth that you can see HERE. So, my head automatically goes back to this look for him, with the Aqua eyes and messy brown hair. And yes, I do imagine him to be very handsome as well.

9. Favorite aspect of them/their relationship dynamics?

For Gisele & the lads it’s just about how fiercely devoted they are to each other and the deep, intrinsic level of trust they have in each other. Literally nothing could come between any of them and they all bring out the best in each other. To me the best kinds of relationships are ones where partners become better people for being together--Aymeric learns that he doesn’t have to be perfect in order to be valued, Estinien learns that people aren’t going to ditch him if he’s vulnerable, Haurchefant learns to be a little less hot-headed, and Gisele...her issue was similar to Aymeric and it’s part of why they have such a strong understanding.

For the ot3 there’s just an infectious kind of joy when they’re together--sort of like that giddiness of an adolescent summer romance, except it never really fades away. Hien and Haurchefant are both equally made of sunshine and they bring that out in Gisele so much. Not that she isn’t playful, because she is, but it goes to 11 around Hien because of how openhearted and guileless he is with his affection.

15. Which character of the pairing do you like more? (Would you ever pair yourself with them?)

In a poly context this question veers a bit too close to “ok but who’s the primary, who does she really love the most” for my comfort and I’ll just say here that I’ve never done hierarchical polyamory irl or in fiction, it’s anathema to me because it inherently runs contrary to the way I conceptualize love and relationships. Gisele can’t and won’t choose between her lovers, or say that this one is more important than that one, and I can’t do that either.

To that point, the fact that she and Haurchefant are married when they become lovers with Hien doesn’t mean that he’s the distaff counterpart of a unicorn or that they went hunting for him. It just kinda fell out that way, Hien would have returned Gisele’s feelings for him anyway but he specifically fell in love with her in large part because of her dynamic with Haurchefant and he fell just as hard for him and vice-versa. I mean it’s hard not to lol. But given the fire-forged nature of their friendship and romance those bonds are incredibly strong. The only difference there is the amount of history they have together.

20. What made you decide to ship them?

This is also kind of a hard question to answer because I never consciously decide to ship anything, it just sort of happens organically and I look up one day like “oh”.

With Gisele and the lads it was just a natural consequence of the story and the way it unfolded. I always say that I would and do ship Aymeric/Estinien/Haurchefant even without the WoL in the picture just because they fit so damn well together, they’re perfectly suited for each other and they have so much chemistry and the camaraderie is off the charts. With Gisele it just goes to 11--I joke a lot about her Thing for knights, but it’s true. And they all really do bring out the best in each other in different ways.

HW to me is the story of how Gisele finally found a home after literally fighting all her life for a place to belong, and losing it over and over again. For her “home” is forever Ishgard but specifically these three, who are Ishgard to her: stubborn, beautiful, a little broken but still standing and eager to seize the second chances they’ve all been given. And for each of the lads, Gisele represents something they’ve all been longing for but maybe didn’t even know they needed until they met her. Each of their lives is irrevocably changed for the better because she’s in it.

As Gisele/Hien/Haurche goes, when I knew that Haurchefant was joining the trip to the Far East (because he’s joined to Gisele at the hip as soon as he’s fighting fit again), I knew he would immediately take a shine to Hien because what’s a Samurai but a Knight of a different name? He’d have already heard so much about him because he and Gosetsu got to be thick as thieves (back at the Rising Stones they’d drink and carouse and tell stories all night). And Edmont really had him pegged when he called him a romantic fool, because there is nothing Haurchefant loves more than a noble cause except Gisele, who’s frequently leading him into them. He had a real heart for the Doman refugees because how couldn’t an Ishgardian knight feel for people from a war torn land who’ve lost everything? And one of the major themes of Haurchefant’s character arc post-HW in my verse is how even though he embodies all these traditional chivalric qualities of Ishgardian knighthood as laid out in the scriptures, what he encounters as a Scion traveling the world naturally makes him expand that concept of knighthood and what it means to him--I mean he was always very progressive as Ishgardian nobles go, given his position at Camp Dragonhead and the Fortemps’ forward thinking, multilateral kind of worldview because the House was so outward looking. He was always exposed to different ideas and cultures and ways of thinking, deliberately. But his entire world up to that point had been fighting the Dragonsong War, and now it’s over, and he’s seeing all these different struggles and all these people in need and how he can serve them (and this only grows when he’s on the First).

Given that, and given his intense feelings of compersion when it comes to Gisele’s happiness, there was no way that was going to stay a V. Hien is also very much his type--very strapping, exceedingly kind yet just as shrewd, an expert swordsman (slicing that bullet in half the way he did in Doma Castle honest to gods got Haurche hot and bothered lmao). In a lot of ways Gisele fell for Hien because she saw the best of Aymeric and Haurchefant in him, but it’s more than just that. There was no way she wasn’t going to fall madly in love with a handsome, lost prince in exile trying to take back his kingdom. But Hien specifically is just so easy to love, because of his warmth and his sense of humor and his intrinsic sweetness. Hien and Gisele have a lot in common, in that they are both survivors of some pretty horrific trauma and dealt with so much hardship in life but they haven’t let it make them hard or cruel. Haurchefant is much the same way, though there’s a remnant of bitterness deep down in him still over his upbringing (and they help him to let it go). Like the OT4 they just fit, I couldn’t not ship it. It helps that Hien is Gisele’s Job trainer when it comes to SAM (I ditched the canon story, and had her learn from Hien and Gosetsu)--when she expressed admiration for his swordplay, he offered to train her out of gratitude for what she’d done for his people in Eorzea. Her Samurai crystal belonged to Lord Kaien and Hien basically gave it to her as a lover’s token, though he didn’t admit it at first.

If she somehow never married the others, I could see her very easily marrying Hien and becoming Queen of Doma (but just like Ferelden in the other verse, she’d very much be a working one).

In an instant, Serella regretted ever doubting Uthengentle when he said Ardbert was a ghost that was possessing his apartment in the Pendants. The mental image of him asking for her gun and offering nothing more than a, “Room’s haunted,” over his shoulder as he left again suddenly and violently made more sense to her.

“show me the places where the others gave you scars.”

Gently lifting the delicate, royal blue fabric of her hempen camise, Yume revealed the reddened, gnarled scar tissue that ran from her belly button to her ivory scaled right hip. A constant reminder of her past life in Hingashi, and how it all ended. She lived to tell the tale, but was forced into a life of exile and dishonor. “See? It is ghastly, is it not?”

Though she has shown Cid the scar before, when they relaxed in the Coerthan Hot Springs together before their foray into the Stone Vigil, she was still expecting him to show some sort of disgust. Instead, she was utterly surprised by his response.

He laid his hands upon each of her scaled hips, gently tugging her towards him as he sat in the edge of the bed. He leaned forward and lightly grazed his lips along on the scar, giving feather like kisses as he went. A soft moan escaped her lips as he gave one more quick peck on the scar, then he looked up and directly into her eyes.

“You know what I see? Your strength, your determination, your willingness to die for your convictions... though I would implore you not to actually die for said convictions, please,” Cid smiled with a gleam in his silver eyes. “The scar, it’s a part of you. How could I not find it beautiful?”

Her heart was about to burst from her chest, overcome with an intense mix of relief, elation, and pure desire for the man in front of her. She could not hold herself back now.

Yume climbed onto Cid’s lap, straddling him while she ran her hands through his long, white hair. She brought her lips to his, sending all of the love she held in her heart through the kiss. Their tongues danced together as the kiss grew in intensity.

Cid broke the kiss momentarily to ask, “Show me?”

Yume was so consumed with her desire that she was still planting kisses down his neck while attempting to answer him. “Hmm?”

“Show me the places where the others gave you scars.”

That broke Yume from her trance enough to stop her kisses. Her bright blue eyes looked deeply into Cid’s silver ones as she lovingly brushed her hand across his cheek. “My other scars are not physically visible. But you have already kissed those away.”

what is the most underrated ship, in your opinion?

Most underrated ship?? There’s quite a few that I can name that I believe are underrated, but MOST underrated...

Okay screw it, I still think it’s Cid x WoL! I mean come on, there are tons of moments that the devs throw at us to ship with Cid but still NO ONE acknowledges them! Like when it’s revealed that the goggles he always wears are the ones that WoL gives him, or how he comes in to rescue us from the Vanu Vanu, or how he’s the King of the Sidequests and he’s in almost every major raid questline!

Once again, I think anything food related is great! I can see them arguing over where to go though. XD

I can see them going and enjoying a play or going to see a movie (I’m sure they had movies in Amaurot, right?).

How about playing D&D?? I can see all kinds of hilarity and chaos happening.

OMG what about Anais and Persie dragging their men to the mall to go shopping?? God, can you imagine their faces as they carry all the bags? XD

I don’t know why, but I am thinking of a sort of tournament where they battle each other’s creations? Think like Pokemon battles... I think that’d be fun!

If they had some sort of Amusement Park, that would also be a must!

4: Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*

Hmmm, besides ships that are underage and problematic and/or illegal (ahem shipping the twins together which is incest or Thancred and Ryne wtf is wrong with these people) I don’t have any that are just outright nope. I have some that I don’t care for, but I am of the opinion that you do you!

26: Most shippable character?

Most shippable character, huh? Obviously when you think of FFXIV most will automatically think of either G’raha or Aymeric, possibly even Emet maybe? Especially when you look at how popular these characters are. But when I sit down and really think of who is the most shippable character I can only think of one...

Yeah it’s gotta be Haurchefant! Way before ShB, when we only had ARR and HW story, there were many that shipped with Aymeric and Estinien even, but Haurchefant was by far the most popular ship at the time. I also think given how devoted he is to you, and what ends up happening in HW, it’s kinda hard not to ship with him at some point. I never really did any serious shipping with him myself, but I have friends who still are not over him (looking at you @faerieearthangel).
