Credit to @raya_hubbell_precision_coach : Inhale Courage, Exhale Fear! ... Open water swimming is by far the most common worry I’ve come across when discussing athletes weaknesses! Some tips and hints to help put you a little more at easy; 1. Accept it’s ok to feel nervous! Knowing your nervous will help you face your fears rather than let them take over on race day! 2. Work out what exactly it is that is causing the anxiety. Is it the unknown? Breathing, weeds? Can’t touch the bottom? By narrowing it down you can focus on overcoming that cause. 3. Take baby steps - slow steps either in the pool or shallow open water - little steps each time your in the water will go a long way to settling fears! 4. Do an open water swimming course and/or get a coach! Seriously - it will help massively! 5. Sign up to an event - no better pressure than knowing you need to train for something at a point in the future! FINALLY - Mileage, mileage, mileage! The more you do - the less you will fear and the better you will get! ... 📸 @thatcameraman ... posted on Instagram - https://newaveswim.com/2FyIgaO
