As far as enemies to lovers ships go, the sequels should've honestly gone with Rose and Hux. They both have a history of trauma at the hands of each other's faction (the FO strip-mined Hays Minor and used it to test weapons, and the Siege of Arkanis speaks for itself), but they have polar opposite ways of coping. Hux allowed his hatred of the Republic to completely consume him, while Rose is all "We don't win by fighting what we hate, but by saving what we love!" This makes for a very compelling dynamic, because they're two sides of the same coin.
