Cosplay story time: I was in Tokyo at a cosplay studio space taking photos for my calendar, and one of the looks was the Marvel character Madam Hydra. I brought the costume and the whip but no way would I fly with prop guns (that’s another story…) so I rented a fake firearm at the studio. @brian_b_boling got some cool shots on this dilapidated building set and I had just about 20 minutes before the studio closed. So @rtplostlink fired up his camera for some video shots of the costume and OF COURSE after only 5 minutes I decided I had to swing my whip around at least once for an action shot. My 12 foot leather bull whip. In a small-ish set room. With all my strength. We got the shot, but at the expense of a long stinging welt down my arm from the whip blowing back after hitting a wall. It’s honestly a miracle I didn’t take anyone’s eye out. I’ve only ever been able to crack this much-too-long whip a handful of times in all my years of using it for cosplay (mostly Catwoman) and this was the loudest crack executed with the most precision 😅 In hindsight I shouldn’t have swung the whip at all, I’m sure that was against studio rules. It was late in the day, I was in my fourth costume and starving, definitely not in the right mindset. So yeah, don’t try this ar home, kids. (Actually, don’t do this anywhere except in an open space without people around. Don’t be dumb like me) Funny story and photo tho 😬 #madamhydra #marvelcosplay #hydracosplay #vipercosplay #comicbookcosplay #marvel #comicbook https://www.instagram.com/p/CRZnEA9HrLM/?utm_medium=tumblr
