Capybara - Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris & Cattle Tyrant - Machetornis rixosa by Jono Dashper Wildlife https://flic.kr/p/2kjWQHL
Big skepticism from the largest rat there is
The capybara is the largest rodent in the world, and is native to South America. This social animal lives in groups of up til 100 members, and the latin name means "river pig". Which means it is sometimes referred to as "river rat".
In spite of the name, it is an animal commonly found on dry ground near bodies of water, from forest to arid areas near deserts.
Totally useful
Its meat is edible, the hide usable as leather and the greasy appearance of its fur is not related to fresh bath: it is hunted for the fur fat too.
No wonder it acts sceptic and quizzical towards humans.
In the little family in Dusit Zoo, they were mostly interested in the food they just had received. Quite noisy, it sounded like a small pack of guinea pigs connected to a bass amplifier.

Akron Zoo Announces Two Capybara Birth
April 23, 2010
The Akron Zoo announced the birth on March 24, 2010 of two capybara babies. The capybara's scientific name hydrochaeris is Greek for "Water Hog".
Capybaras are the world's largest rodent. Their name originates from the Guarani word Kapiyva, which means “master of the grasses.” Capybara are semi-aquatic mammals found wild in much of South America in densely forested areas near bodies of water, such as lakes, rivers, swamps, ponds and marshes. They are usually found in large groups of between 10 and 20 individuals and live along rivers and marsh areas. Capybara populations are stable throughout most of their South American ranges, although in some areas hunting has reduced their numbers.
