You know, I looked at this and immediately thought of @hyperiontrashbin‘s vault hunter au which I love dearly and intensely. I hope neither of you mind this little riff on it!
“You know, kid, you ain’t the first to try to light-finger me, but you might well be the luckiest.”
Rhys doesn’t feel lucky. The backseat of a bandit car had seemed like a good hiding place - until it had been commandeered by the very vault hunter he had pickpocketed before the shooting started.
“Saved me the effort of running you down, at least.” That grin could cut glass. “Like I said: lucky.” He snaps his fingers over the seat. “Now hand over the goddamn wallet.”
“I, uh.” Rhys wonders if this is what imminent death feels like. “I lost it.”

“Sooo, I found this waterfall…”
Jack’s interest had been piqued when Rhys had returned from brief scouting the immediate area they had decided to hunker down in for the evening and told him about what he’d uncovered. Shouldering his shotgun—just in case, the area looked pretty safe and stuffed with potential food sources, but appearances on Pandora were deceiving—he follows Rhys away from their impromptu camp and through a small, rocky little canyon. Jack grunts as he scrambles up the rocks, lagging behind Rhys, whose deft, lithe little body maneuvers easily on the difficult terrain. Oh well. At least it gives him a nice view of the little bit of flesh that peaks out over the band of Rhys’ trousers as the young man pulls himself up over the final boulder and perches atop it, turning to watch Jack with a grin.
“Need a hand, old man?” Rhys snickers, and Jack has half the mind to toss a handful of pebbles at him if it doesn’t mean risking tumbling back to earth on his ass.
“Yeah yeah, shove it, kid. If this isn’t worth it I’m hog-tying you up for the rest of the night.” Jack grumbles, arms stinging as he finally swings his body up on top of the boulder where Rhys is perched. He’s about to lay into the kid again, teach him something about respecting the man who’s saved his ass multiple times, when he notices the sight before him.
A rocky depression smooths out below them, bottoming out in a gorgeous, clear little pool ringed by exotic plants and flowers in pink, orange, and yellow that even Jack, in his long treks around all of Pandora, hasn’t seen before. A waterfall splasehs down into the pool opposite of them, sending up a crystalline mist shimmering with rainbow light.
It looks positively heavenly.
“So? What do you think?” Rhys smiles as he rises to his feet, slipping carefully down the incline towards the sandy bank of the pool. Jack blinks dumbly after him, only following him when Rhys casually strips his rough shirt off his body, tossing it into one of the lush green bushes.
“Woah woah, hey kitten, you sure that’s safe?” Jack calls as he jogs down besides Rhys, who is already starting to pull off his trousers and toss them alongside his shirt. Rhys turns to look at him with one eyebrow raised, blatant and casual even as he stands naked and pale and pink in front of Jack. The older man briefly forgets his concern at the sight—at the perfect, angelic way Rhys looks framed against the shimmering mist and elegant flowers and crystal pool.
“Safe? Jack, when is anything we ever do safe…” Rhys rolls his eyes. Jack opens his mouth dumbly to protest, but then Rhys’ fingers are trailing along the front of his shirt, giving the fabric a light tug. Oh boy. The coy little bite of the lip doesn’t escape Jack’s notice.
He rips off his clothes so quickly that he wonders if he might chafe his skin. Rhys laughs, skipping back and dodging Jack’s greedy hands. He splashes happily into the shallows of the pool as Jack chases him, eventually capturing the young man around the waist and hoisting him up in the air, pressing hungry kisses across Rhys’ fluttering chest.
“A—ahh, Jack…” Rhys moans as the older man’s lips presses against his pert, pink nipples, his auburn hair tossed back and dotted with crystal drops of water. His own stomach tenses as he keeps Rhys held aloft, turning softly in the gentle ripple of the water as he lavishes attention on the boy’s perfect skin.
He carefully lets Rhys down after a moment but keeps him in his arms, pressing his tanned body against Rhys’ pale one. He can feel the young man’s cock stir against his own, a pleased sigh spilling from his lips as he pushes closer to Jack, his arms coming up to drape about Jack’s shoulders. His wet hands stroke through Jack’s hair, messing it up into damp, fluffy spikes as he kisses Jack’s chin once quickly before claiming his lips.
“N-Nice find, pumpkin…” Jack purrs as they finally break apart, both breathing heavily, hands idly exploring each other. Jack plucks one of the golden flowers hanging over the pool as they drift by, smiling softly as he tucks it behind Rhys’ ear, cupping his face as he turns it, admiring.
“Mmm….better than bandits and thresher nests…” Rhys murmurs dreamily, nuzzling against Jack’s jawline, rubbing against his bristling scruff.
It’s not long before Jack has Rhys pressed up against the smooth stone wall besides the waterfall, water flecking against their naked bodies as they rut against one another. Rhys’ long legs are wrapped around Jack’s brown hips, squeezing him close as Jack fists their cocks together. The water splashes around them as Jack thrusts his hips against Rhys’ willing body, the young man’s hands clutching tightly into Jack’s hair as he ravishing his flexing collarbone. Rhys comes with a shout that reverberates all around the clandestine pool, bouncing back into Jack’s ears and throbbing through him as he jerks up with a final hiss and comes white into the clear water below.
Jack drifts, with Rhys boneless in his arms, towards the shoreline, settling on a smooth underwater rock as he peppers kisses all over Rhys’ wet skin. The young man relaxes against him, head resting against Jack’s shoulder as he mumbles sweet nothings against his lover.
“Can’t we just stay here forever…?” Rhys whines softly, tracing his fingers lightly against Jack’s chest, his breath warm and needy against the older man’s skin. Jack presses his face against the sun-warmed hair on Rhys’ crown, thoughtful.
He thinks of all the hollowed out houses, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, that they’ve come across. He thinks of the money and guns and trinkets they’d looted from the bodies, from the lives of people who’d found a place to settle amongst the rabid wasteland and tried to make something of it.
He looks around the clearing, at the gentle splash of the waterfall, at the shady trees growing from soil fed by the spring, heavy with red and orange bulbs that might very well be edible. There’s space aplenty down the rocky canyon where they’d made their camp, the whole area in general pretty cut off from the usual bandit routes and encampments.
He looks back to Rhys, who is still flushed pink in the aftermath of his orgasm, still so untouched and unscarred and looking up at Jack with sweet, glimmering eyes that catch a little bit of lighted hope in the sparkling heat of the sun.
“We’ll see, pumpkin,” Jack whispers as he kisses his forehead, “we’ll see.”

I need Hyperion sneakers
OH BOY @joycew-blog you did not ask for shoe recommendations but I love looking at shoes, so:
Gold sneakers seem like the place to start, right? No? Just me?
I bought these at Target some time last year, and while I’m not saying I was specifically thinking about corporate space fashion when I did it, I’m not not saying it either. But these are long gone from the store; let’s look at some options you could buy today.
Michael Michael Kors, $101.50 (reduced!) at michaelkors.com
These have that nice vaguely reptilian print and familiar sneaker shape, reminiscent of both of our favorite CEOs. But if that’s a bit much for your budget, you could always try:
Puma Basket Classic Citi Metallic Sneaker, $49.97 (on clearance!) at nordstromrack.com
Same color, same shape, half the price. Sadly these appear to be a clearance item and the available sizes are rapidly disappearing they straight up sold out as I was typing this post. :( Or if straight gold is not your thing, you can always try googling “gold and black sneakers” as I did, which gives you a metric ton of options and led to this gem:
LED Light-Up Shoes, $19.54 at lightinthebox.com
Holy shit you guys. You cannot tell me that Jack is not the kind of nerd who would buy these shoes. Or maybe that’s just me, because these are ridiculous and amazing and ridiculously amazing and I am so so fucking tempted. (Sadly for those of you who have regular-sized feet, these appear to be only available in kid’s sizes.) Okay. Moving on.
Adidas Superstar (customized), $115 at adidas.com/us/customize
For a little bit more of a grownup look, Adidas lets you customize their most popular shoes with a (small) variety of fabrics and colors. For example, while I am fond of the above black and gold combination, if you’re the kind of CEO who, to pick a random example, enjoys wearing skagskin boots, these might be more your speed:
Adidas Gazelle (customized), $105 at adidas.com/us/customize
For when you want to be casual, but still let the others around you know that you are an individual with style and taste. Or something. (Sidenote: some customization styles will let you add personalization, aka text, to the sides or sole. You can’t see it, but these shoes have “STRAIGHT TO THE TOP” in repeating lines across the bottom.)
Of course, no discussion of customizable tennis shoes would be complete without:
The Ultimate Dad Shoes (possibly no longer available)
So some time ago @hyperiontrashbin ordered the most fuckin amazing Jack shoes and my life has never been the same, basically. I tried to recreate these shoes on the adidas web site and sadly, no luck, but I take comfort that somewhere out there, hyperiontrashbin is enjoying some A+ quality dad shoes.
Anyway these are an incomplete list of my take on Hyperion sneakers, brought to you by my lunch break. Enjoy.
After a dinner of tough, slightly sandy skag jerky and some crusty bread, they’d decided to break into a bit of the whiskey. Rhys had side-eyed the stained jug of acidic alcohol that Jack had offered him, but at the older man’s needling Rhys had taken a deep swig of the bottle. Jack had laughed at him when Rhys had choked on the sharp taste, but contrary to the vault hunter’s expectations the boy had kept it down with a couple firm thumps to the chest.
“Easy,” Rhys had huffed, handing the jug back to Jack, “your move, old man.”
They’d passed the jug back and forth until it laid empty and discarded on the cooling sands, the last little drops dripping out onto the earth as the two men had slowly gravitated towards one another. Just as Jack had realized that Rhys was leaning up against him, he’d suddenly found the kid sliding warming into his lap, blithely taking a seat atop his thighs as he’d leaned his head back against Jack’s chest and started to point out the map of the stars twinkling in the darkening sky above them. Jack had gotten a whiff of Rhys’ hair, smelling of sand and cloth and the barest hint of blood.
Jack had just pegged the kid as a little handsy, any social inhibitions clouded by the alcohol to the point where personal space just wasn’t something he was thinking about as he pressed up against Jack. But okay, the way that Rhys looked over his shoulder at him, the way the kid’s eyes shone in the moonlight, the husky little whisper with which he told Jack the names he’d made up for the constellations…that right there? That had to be something more.
That’s what Jack convinces himself of, anyway, when his hand cups Rhys’ cheek and he presses in for a kiss as warm as the Pandoran night is chill and silent.
(Sorry for the glasses, my eyes got fucked up by my contacts yesterday :c ) Decided to recreate @hyperiontrashbin's picture of the reverse au cause tebs decided to do a beat up jack for the last day!
I wanted to make sure that our lovely @thirtysixsavefiles, who did a huge amount of work on the matching system for all the entries, got a little something in return for all her hard work. Thank you @hyperiontrashbin / @akintak for helping me out with that!
(One of our pinch-hitters also contributed a fic which will be posted next)
