DinApril Day 6: Your (mother's) favorite dinosaur that is not a member of any of the Big Five dinosaur clades (i.e. a herrerasaur, heterodontosaur, silesaur, jeholosaur, thescelosaur, etc.).

Welcome to DinApril 2025, where instead of recycling my list from last year, I made my mom come up with the dinosaurs! Our sixth day features her favorite herrerasaur: Herrerasaurus ischigualastensis! In an homage to a Wayne Barlowe painting from An Alphabet of Dinosaurs by Peter Dodson (the first dinosaur alphabet book I ever read and one of my & my mom's favorites), a juvenile male attacks a Hyperodapedon sanjuanensis while his mother encourages him from a distance.

The painting, for reference:

The Herrerasaurus in the painting HAD to be a juvenile because an adult Herrerasaurus is MUCH larger than a Hyperodapedon.

Coloration inspired by the Collecta Herrerasaurus from 2010, a toy that I actually own in real life.
