Composition 6.0

Whether its my mild red-green colourblindness, or just an aesthetic preference towards garish colours - this lime green monstrosity does actually resemble the bioluminescent glow of vibrio fischeri. Having worked with both photo bacterium phosphoreum and VF in the past, I wanted to produce a little video that I could sit and watch all day. I hope you'll want to as well.

My page containing Bioluminescent inspiration has really given me some context and structure for creating these videos. I'm trying to incorporate the references to kinetic display and produce a contrast of ambient and frantic video pieces.

I posted the other day confessing my fear of using colour - well. That's not flying anymore. I'm determined to improve in all aspects of my work practice so here's hoping!

My major influences in the following series of videos are bioluminescent light displays, hydromedusae and the kinetic movements of bioluminescent spews. I have been documenting most of the editing process: taking screenshots of the chosen presets incase I want to know how to re-use successful effects. The methodology is similar to my previous video experiments - photoshop filters, manually animating the pixel data, importing into after effects, scaling, cropping, exporting, importing to iMovie (don't snigger, I like it), adjusting speed settings, adjusting colour settings, masking and finally uploading.
