Took 10 minutes and slapped this together last night because I wanted it to exist. Sam Yao is a cutie, and I love him.

“Raise the gates”
Always thought of Runner Five as mute, and always loved the thought that they would use sign language to communicate. Other characters do comment on Five’s silence which just reinforces it. So wanted to show them using British Sign language. The closest I could get to ‘raise the gates’ was “raise” and “gate” so figured that would work.
Silly headcanon, but as the comms tower is quite close to the gate (Sam gets to Runner Five quite quickly in the first episode when they arrive at Able) I like to think he can see them at the gates through a window they’d sign to him to show they’re ready for their run.
Absolutely obsessed with this game right now <3

Time for steppies!
Usually when I do zombies run I do a brisk enough walk that I still get chases. But I've been thinking about trying to run a little bit more, see if my lower body lifting has helped my IT band at all. So today, after I crossed the last thing I would need to cross, I tried jogging on the paved trail. I didn't worry about how fast I was or wasn't going, I just went until I felt like I didn't want to anymore. But the best part of all is that in over a mile of running (plus almost 3 more miles of brisk walking) my IT band was fine. It didn't complain during the zombie chases either. I'm not going to start running more often, but this is a promising development.
Now to upgrade my base in the builder and shower. I've got quilting to do today!
Friday is usually my rest day with Saturday being my long walk day. But tomorrow I've got a thing in the morning and one in the evening so...I decided to get my Garmin weekend walking badge tonight instead. I put on Zombies Run after I took the arthritic dog for his walk and went through the neighborhood with chases on at max frequency. Thanks to @zrtranscripts for help on what order to do Season 2 episodes, it's convoluted. I was expecting to get the August Weekend Walking badge tonight but the stage 3 walking one was a surprise tonight. I'm 96% of the way done with the Appalachian Trail badge as well, so that should be mine in the next couple of months.
I first started Zombies Run back in 2020, I'm not the most regular with it because a lot of my walking has either kids or a friend with me and I prefer to do ZR when it's just me. So it's taken me a long time to get through it, but as of tonight I've done 500km with the app and I got a letter of thanks for it.
Now to go stretch and rinse off. My IT band is doing okay but I need to keep up on the stretching and strengthening if I want to keep doing even just running intervals.
Because of the holiday weekend I got to get a really good sweat in today. I started way later than I wanted to thanks to the kids, but at least I did it. I had zombie chases turned on and walked fast enough that several of them triggered. I am wondering if I will be able to work in at least some jogging and running intervals without my hips, knees, and ankles declaring mutiny now that I've been lifting legs a bit more.
When I got in the car the thermometer said 117F (47C), but it was down to 94F (34C) when I got home. I saw a tiny blue tailed skink on my walk (no picture), had a preschooler put her hand out for a high five and then pull it back at the last second (quite a cute trickster), and then saw a deer that I was able to get a picture of and two more further in the woods. The last picture is of what is supposed to be a stream bed but it's completely dry because we've only had rain once in the last month. It's getting bad here.
Now to stretch, hydrate, get cleaned up, and hit the grocery store. Stay cool out there, northern hemisphere friends! It's hot!
i made two lock screen things for myself from photos i snapped on runs last week; wasn't originally going to share them but what the hell, if any other fives want broody finnish forest aesthetics on their phones feel free to grab? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My next Zombies, Run! episode is unlocked today
Guys there is so much hype I can't.
