... Well, you know, when you put it like that? Sure. Why not.
Also, I'm mid-voyage right now, and the second I hit the Stormbones, we sighted a lifeberg, and I got my usual Monster Hunter option to ram it and claim a piece. And. I think, just this once, just while I'm currently rammed to the gunwales with high explosives, that maybe I might skip that option? Just this once? Heh.
I just watched the movie, Drumline 🥁 I love this movie and I love drumlines!! ❤️ I am going to keep practicing until I can play a snare drum like Nick Cannon does in this movie!! The things that they do with their drumsticks and the rhythm of it all is exciting to me. I get all worked up watching this movie every time!! I love the drums!!! Someday, I am going to play right along with this movie. It's gonna take a while, but I'm ready to put in the work!! 😁🤣😍🥁❤️💯💥
Some ideas and headcanon and what i expect from the tv show portrayal...
Spoilers for season 3 + book 3 and maybe also book 4
I have a few things to say, that i feel i can't talk about with anyone in real life. I can't find anyone right now with my kinda energy, i'm ready for 4000 characters rambles, and 4 minutes audio messages, and i receive back "nice " and similar.
Hope i dont ramble way too much but here we go.
again, possible spoilers ahead.
Premise: I have read 5/5 books of the book series, seen the 2 seasons of the show, some years ago i read finally the second series of books, but i'm in the middle of the fifth one that i still haven't finished it. Because of this, and other life reasons, i haven't re-read the Titan's Curse. And i was almost not going to write this, but realised that it doesn't disregard my point, since the show might still change a few things and still make it work.
So keep in mind that i vaguely remember most plot point of The Titan's Curse, I might not remember the precise order of events or certain details. But it's not so important for my reasoning to stick.
So...
Aphrodite.
We know we are going to meet her in the next season. We know who they casted for her role. We know why it's important for Percabeth that Percy sees her as similar to Annabeth, because in the book we look through Percy's eyes.
In the show, although we don't necessarely see through his POV, the lenses are more wide so that leaves us with more possibilities.
This Goddess main thing is that she appears in the form the person looking at her prefers, the loof they are more attracted to. Maybe this is not the best explanation but it's what i remember. She basically changes form based on the looker's gaze.
So the fandom, and book readers expect now to see someone like Annabeth, or at least, see multiple forms.
I for one, expected two main actresses, and then some stand-ins/ random actors, for a montage of sort to make this point across without having to go through some huge and boring explanation. Show don't tell, right?
The fact they didn't announce them either means they will leave the other actresess as a surprise, will hire a different one every time they appear on screen, or it means we won't see Percy's POV next but Annabeth's.
If we think about it, having Aphrodite looking like Kate McKinnon, only makes sense in the tv show, if this is Annabeth's POV.
Like she is a blond actress, superfunny and sarcastic, she also kinda has curls and often has short hair... like come on!
Also for how difficult locking actors for recurring roles works, they can't ideally take too many actresses for such small roles especially if they have to share screentime with others in the same role as them, either it becomes painfully expensive or you are going to make drastic decisions to allow this to work.
Like not show this important characteristic and keep only one actress...
I don't want to get rid of this plot point, its way too important.
So i kinda thought about something that could make this work best, and at the same time being an hint for future things.
What about having more characters present during the first meeting with Aphrodite... Again i don't remember when this happens and which characters are present at this point...
Let's say at least both Percy and Annabeth are present, either because its the same in the book, or they decide to show this as a flashback, like something that happened in the time between the last episode, and when the titan's curse actually starts as...
At the beginning we only see McKinnon, and she is joking around both Percy and Annabeth because i remember her shipping them a lot in the book, and also knows more stuff about their feelings than them. She is also teasing them a little bit, in a funny aunt that loves romance kinda way. Then, through the dialogue or camera angles, we discover this is Annabeth's POV. So we are seeing through her eyes.
then... Aphrodite looks at Percy and teases him by asking him what she looks like in his eyes, knowing full well she already knows and is just asking for making him blush with Annabeth present and looking at him.
i can imagine her being hilarious at this moment, and i recall Walker confirming working with her and saying he struggled not breaking into laughter.
Then i was thinking... she, the goddess, would extend her hand, and then we switch to Percy's POV.
The camera locks in on their hands, and we see Percy's hand and a black hand landing on his. His hand is closer to the camera, almost like we are watching through his eyes. We only see the hands, we don't see Aphrodite's body or face.
Percy is definitely confused and blushing, at this point he is still unaware of his feelings for Annabeth.
We then switch to his face, and he starts describing what he sees but he is not descriptive. its more about vibes, like
"she is nice, has a good smile" and if they press on more details on appearence, he is still vague like "she looks like a good looking actress" and not giving more specific info on who
then either Annabeth or Aphrodite says something and we go back at seeing McKinnon, so back at seeing Annabeth's POV
This way they avoid having to cast multiple actresses in the role, and not explain everything, having the show being vague but still hints at something between them.
They would have the liberty of actually getting someone else in a following chapter, and trying to get someone who actually looks like tv!Annabeth (Leah)
And it makes sense also character wise since at this point both are close to each other, but Percy is still unaware his feeling are evolving from "best friendship" to something more. If i recall he kinda start getting it more in book 4, if not exactly the end of book 4.
Annabeth instead i think realises it in the Titan's Curse, in fact i think it's the realization that she can't or doesn't want to leave him, that makes her realise she doesn't want to join the hunters of Artemis.
So if it happens along those lines i think it might work.
The description of the scene was clearer and funnier in my head but i hope it makes sense anyway.
Also, i kinda re-read everything and fixed typos and grammar. now it should be a smoother read.
took this photo of @randybradley87 yesterday, we had a pretty good time. i rarely hang out with anyone, so I wanna remember this day. it was kinda special if yk what I mean
A few weeks ago, I made the mistake of logging into Facebook after… years. While dodging wild life updates from people I’d totally forgotten about, I stumbled across this old photo and found this babe!
This is Kandy—my candy corn demon! I made her back around 2010, right in the middle of my My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt obsession. (Hence the heavy influence of both—no regrets, I still love them!)
When I first designed her, I wanted her horns to match candy corn colors but could never get it right. I think this attempt finally hits the mark! Adding more orange accents in the makeup and blush balanced things out a bit… I think, lol. I did have to stop myself from giving her orange and yellow freckles though—
I’m slowly giving all my characters freckles. They’re just so freaking cute!
