“Yeah, I just didn’t expect to see you here of all places,” she replies quietly as the PA adjusts one of their competitors' mic packs. “It’s been a long time, Fezco.”

He sighs apologetically as they are directed to head into the MasterChef kitchen set for the first time. “I know. We can talk after this, aight?”

It’s as if no time has passed at all, because instinctually Fezco places a hand on Lexi’s lower back to guide her through the doors where the three judges await. She can feel the heat of his hand through the material of her dress, and she’s pretty sure if she looked up at him that little smirk he used to wear when he was flirting with her back in the day would be firmly on his lips. She wants to roll her eyes at him, show him he doesn’t have the same effect over her at twenty-two that he did when she was seventeen, but that would be a lie.
