loook I kinda like derek and I think he saw a lot of personal growth throughout the show but... season 1 and 2 (and 3) derek was borderline a villain.
he harassed, beat up and stalked scott and stiles, was a horrible mentor, used/threatened allison to scare scott, and killed peter to take his alpha powers even knowing scott wanted the kill to try and cure his werewolf-ism.
he made sexual advances towards a teenager to coerce her into joining his gang, took advantage of another's abusive home life to coerce him into joining, and ultimately got two kids killed in his own pursuit of power. he was once again a horrible mentor: abusing them, barely teaching them control, and not deigning to explain all the dangers of the life he was dragging them into.
he canonically barely took care of isaac in terms of giving him housing, etc. and the moment his sister rolled into town he prioritized her over his supposedly-important "pack" to the point where his own beta defected to another alpha.

No, because now y’all got me thinking about purgatory in 15x09 again and I’m just...LET’S TALK. So I know we’ve covered how the portal they need to get to (and seem nowhere near) is closing in mere MINUTES and Dean has no intention of leaving without Cas. But I was rewatching those scenes and I just realized the ridiculousness of it all. Like even once he finds Cas, instead of being like “Ok, let’s go,” Dean wants to hear what happened while they were separated, and how the love of his life is standing before him and not in Eve’s clutches. So he asks and they just STAND THERE, talking. They have very limited time as we know, and THEN Cas says that the leviathans are still after him. Each of these is a good enough reason on its own to get the heck outta there, but together it means they need to haul it. And YET, Dean says “I need to say something.” He’s about to take even more of their PRECIOUS time, with enemies bearing down on them, to TALK, because he has decided he will not go another MOMENT without telling Cas precisely how important he is to Dean and how sorry he is. Whether he was going to say “I love you” with his words or not his objectively reckless disregard for their lives and safety already speaks VOLUMES. Like, hunter who? Survival instincts where?
