sure but itās exceedingly strange how the one woman whose story is rooted in sexual violence (and, crucially, reclaiming her own power in the wake of it) has been turned into something entirely different. meanwhile other characters like alicent are on the receiving end of multiple non-canon assaults that do nothing to drive their development or the plot forward. so whatās that fucking about, huh?
also, Iāve seen people shipping alysmond since before s3 came out. Iām not here to yuck anyoneās yum (enjoy all the toxic pairs you want, Iām not the ship police), but the whitewashing of the relationship feels terribly tone-deaf, especially with how the show writers seem to view SA as a silly little bit of drama that can be used and brushed aside with impunity.

since the new season and the winter wolves have once again resurrected the redditors and their dead-ass arguments, I'm gonna take y'all back to square one as regards cregan stark. he was not disloyal. he did not delay his forces out of cowardice or indecision. he was not a fraud or a fake or a secret green.
During the Great Council of 101 Lord Ellard Stark supported Rhaenys/Laenor's claim to the Iron Throne. Lord Alaric Stark acknowledged Rhaenyra as Viserys' heir. The Starks (and all the North with them) were never doubted in their support for Rhaenyra when Viserys died, however that first Black Council deemed them "too remote to be of import in the fight...by the time the Starks gathered their banners and marched south, the war might well be over." (434)
The North is the largest, most remote, and most sparsely populated of the old kingdoms. They have no standing army; assembling a full fighting force takes months at the best of times and with winter coming, the young and strong were needed for the autumn harvest. Rather than subject his people to starvation, Cregan sent 2,000 older men who would not have survived the winter, men with nothing to lose, men whose entire purpose was to die for Rhaenyra's cause. And as soon as the autumn harvest was in, he led 8,000 more from Winterfell to King's Landing, a trip that takes roughly 2 months with just a small party.
Keep in mind that Cregan's Pact of Ice and Fire with Jace was settled under the assumption that his son Rickon would be betrothed to Jace's future eldest daughter. He marched 8,000 men south for a dead queen, her dead heir, and a marriage pact that would never be fulfilled. He could have washed his hands of the matter and said "you got your Northern army with my Winter Wolves." Instead, he threatened to march on the final Green Houses, tearing out those who defied his rightful ruler root to stem. He personally handled affairs in King's Landing, executing and exiling the oathbreakers and kingslayers so that Rhaenyra's young son might have a proud and honest court surrounding him. He did all of this out of loyalty to Rhaenyra's cause and Jace's memory, and as soon as he was able, he abdicated from the position of Hand and returned to his duties as Lord Paramount. The idea that Cregan should have dropped everything the moment Rhaenyra called is frankly ridiculous and just goes to show how many people have swallowed HotD's Targ Supremacy pills like they're candy.
Cregan ascended as Lord of the North 126 years after Torrhen Stark knelt. He is closer to the time of the Kings of Winter than he is to AgOT and Ned Stark. This is a man raised on stories of the Field of Fire and Harrenhall. He is the blood of the First Men, he holds to the Old Gods, and his family has ruled the North in some capacity or another for 8,000 years. He has no duty to the Iron Throne (nor the foreign conquerors who sit it) that is not eclipsed by his duty to his own people. And still, he did right by the Dragon Queen. Say what you will about HotD's writing, but they were right on the money when they opened Cregan's introductory scene with a monologue about duty and a nod to the Night's Watch -- maybe they just wanted some GoT/Stark nostalgiabait, but it still showed a fundamental understanding of the Northern lords and Cregan Stark that I fear will be missing when he reappears on our screens.

itās because C&H canāt stop dragging coleās character through the dirt, giving him nothing to do on-screen except mope and bitch about rhaenyra incel-style while daemon gets the whitewashing of the century.
not to mention ā and Iām being so serious here ā daemon is funny. heās got charm and swagger in spades, so regardless of his numerous crimes against humanity heās always going to be a more generally appealing character than Sir Sulks-A-Lot. C&H have squandered fabien as an actor (to their detriment) but they knew where the money was coming in when they hired matt smith.
Mysaria trying to pass Medicare for All, Daemons trying to get Martial Law declared, Baela and Addam being the heads of the wildlife management, Orwyle is busy running Westeroās first planned parenthood, and Rhaenyra is trying to take out the oppositions nuclear war capabilities.
